Hi Coaches,
 
Your team is invited to attend the Penn Speech Tournament, scheduled on January 22nd, 2022.
 
We will offer all IHSFA events and this tournament will be Live and In person at Penn high school. Entries will be due by 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 19th and judges will be due by 6:00 p.m. Thursday the 20th. Novice and Varsity divisions will be offered.
 
There will be four rounds- 3 prelims and a final. Ribbons will be awarded to the top 6 competitors in each event.

Event Specific Details- 
 
Duo- IHSFA rules (scripted or memorized). 
 
Broadcasting- Students will prepare a 5 minute newscast and include a mustic intro/outro of their choosing and a 1 minute commercial advertising converse high tops. Students should also prepare a 2 minute editorial with a question that will be posted the day of the tournament. Students will get 30 minutes to prep before the editorial in round 3. 
 
Newscast will be used in Round 1. Round 2 will be on the spot. Editorial will be used in round 3. Final will combine the two for a 7 minute broadcast.
 
Discussion- Artifacts will be released on Monday January 17th. (No doubling in discussion).
 
World Schools Debate- Prepared Motion: This house believes that the COVID pandemic was inevitable and could not have been contained.
 
Congress Debate- January Docket
 
 
 
 
Judges-
 
1 judge will be required for every 5 entries or fraction (6 entries= 2 judges).
 
 
Platform- 
 
In-Person (Masked Required. Students are able to remove masks during their speeches at the discretion of others in the room).
