Willmar Cardinal Junior High Speech Meet

 

We would like to welcome you and your 7-9th graders to join us for a junior high school Speech tournament Thursday, February 7. Our hope is to provide our youngest speakers with an opportunity to compete with others of a similar level.

 

There will be 3 rounds of competition. All 13 MSHSL categories will be offered and double entering is allowed. Draw categories will draw for each round.

 

 

ENTRIES:

The fee is $7/entry. Duo is $14

 

Entry deadline:

Please submit your initial entries by 3 pm Friday, January 28. Please make adds/drops throughout the week when you know of them.  PLEASE make any last-minute changes on Speechwire BEFORE 3:15 on Monday afternoon.

 

 

JUDGES:

Your school must provide one judge for every six entries or fraction thereof. We are asking that all judges be adults with no student judges. However, we would like to have experienced seniors volunteer to provide feedback and encouragement to these young speakers in the 3rd round. 

Please keep in mind that small tournaments may mean that we cannot keep judges clean, so your judges need to know they might have to judge a member of your team. Obviously we will work to avoid that at all possible. We have a limited number of judges available for hire at $90 per judge.

 

ARRIVAL: 

Our school day ends at 2:45. The parking lot will be clear for student drop off after 3:00pm. Please drop off at the main entrance to the school. Draws will begin at 3:45 and round 1 will start at 4:00pm (Discussion and draw categories will be offset by 15 minutes to allow us to get the tournament moving quickly).

 

Concessions will be available with pizza as a dinner option for students.
