Welcome to Farmington High School's Invitational!

UPDATE JANUARY 31, 2022

We are VERY EXCITED to offer two new additions to our tournament this yeart!

1. We are now a NIETOC qualifying tournament. Student entries in a particular category will determine the number of people who can qualify for the NIETOC tournament.

2. We are also adding IMPROMPTU as a category to the tournament. If you want to make changes to your registration, please feel free to do so on your registration form as of today!

As in previous years, we are still going to offer novice (novice defined as a student who is truly new to speech) and varsity; however, they will compete against one another in rounds and then split for finals. This will allow potential novice speakers to break into a varsity final, while still giving an opportunity for other novice speakers to break into a novice final. We had great success with this structure in the past, and many other tournaments are following suit. Hopefully it will be a great experience for your team as well.

Please make your checks out to Farmington High School and bring them on the day of the tournament or send them to:

Registration is due Feb 14th 2022 (or until our tournament is full). Due to covid, we will not be charging for drops in the interest of keeping everyone healthy. Please make sure you are updating your registration as soon as possible. Drops will close on Friday. Please text or email drops to the tournament managers on Saturday. Rachel Baumann: 952-240-9551 or Beth Beckman: 651-485-6416

Both novice and varsity entries will be accepted. For our tournament we would like the “novice” category to be for truly new and inexperienced performers. Therefore, a new senior would not be a novice, nor would an exceptionally good ninth grader. This way our new kids can be successful and our quality performers can have a good competition experience.

Masks will be required for the tournament except when actively competiting in rounds.

Fees: $7 per entry and 1 judge per 6 entries or fraction thereof. Uncovered judges will be charged $100. We will not have extra judges to hire.

All of our tournament information is available on our tournament website. Here is that link: https://sites.google.com/isd192.org/farmington-high-school-speech/home?authuser=0

We are plannning to have an in person award ceremony in the recital hall. However, we understand that some schools may feel uncomfortable or unable to attend due to covid protocols and we respect that those decisions need to be made at a coaching level. To accomodate all programs, we will be sure students who are unable to attend are still acknowledged and receive their awards.

If you have any questions, please email Beth Beckman (ebeckman@farmington.k12.mn.us) and Rachel Baumann (rbaumann@farmington.k12.mn.us)
