Greetings from Staples-Motley!

This is the 42nd Annual Staples Host Lions Speech Tournament to be held Saturday, February 8th at Staples-Motley High School. The competition is for students grades 7-12, in all 13 MSHSL categories plus a fun bonus category of Improv. Double entries are allowed (even in Discussion) but not with two draw categories.

Cost is $7.00 per entry with duo considered one entry. Invoice will be based on your numbers as of Tuesday before btge meet. Make checks payable to: Staples Host Lions. Bring checks the day of the meet or mail to the SMHS address directly at 401 Centennial Dr, Staples, MN 56479 beforehand.

Please bring 1 judge for every 6 entries (7 entries = 2 judges).

The tournament will consist of 3 rounds and a final. Awards will be given to the top 6 speakers in each category and those earning a superior rating.  Trophies will be awarded to the top 3 teams.

Concessions will be available for purchase for students and delicious food (even for food sensitivity folks) freely provided for all coaches, judges and bus drivers in the judges’ lounge.

Please register students by 4PM Tuesday, February 4th . Drops/adds will be accepted up until you arrive (text me at 218-270-0120 on the way in).

Registration check-ins starts at 8am and ends at 8:30am.  Coaches/judges meeting at 8:30am.

Round 1 draws start at 8:45 and Round 1 starts at 9:15 for all but Discussion.  Discussion rounds all start 15 minutes later to allow for double entries.
