Greetings Players,

Doane University and the University of Nebraska-Kearney are excited to host the sixth annual “Final Stage” tournament in the ultimate gaming atmosphere, Online!  We will be offering one asynchronous tournament with all 11 AFA events November 30th-December 3rd.

We will use SpeechWire for registration and tabulation. To register, please visit http://www.speechwire.com/. We will be using electronic ballots (e-ballots). Please instruct all school judges to have a device with internet capabilities (phone, tablet, or laptop). Here is a video with more information regarding Speechwire’s e-ballot system: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YJXxeVS-KgM

Students may enter as many events as they would like. There will be three rounds, no finals. Ties in individual events for this tournament will be broken on the following: Ranks, Head to Head, Strength of Opposition, Speaker Points.

Team and Individual Sweepstakes points will be awarded based on the following formula: 10 points for first, 8 points for second, 6 points for third, 4 points for fourth, 2 points for fifth, 1 point for sixth, and ½ point for seventh, eighth, etc. Ties in team and individual sweepstakes will be broken on number of finals followed by number of 1st’ place finishes, 2nd’ place finishes, etc.

One video submission per student event will be used for all rounds.

Please upload individual events to Youtube, unlisted and include the student’s full name and event in the “title” of the youtube video. When possible, please do not include the name of your college/university in the name of the Youtube account. Links must be provided with entries, by 6:00pm on November 30th.

*The tournament reserves the right to institute and utilize team event caps based on the number of teams and number of entries at the registration deadline.

Quotations and extemp questions will be posted to the tournament’s speechwire page at 8am on Monday, November 29th. We trust all students and coaches to adhere to Limited Prep guidelines and honor code for preparation. Ext prep does not need to be included in the performance video. However, please include prep time in all Impromptu videos (this can make starting the video camera easier for students, and assessing time allocation possible for judging).

All Imp judges will be reminded to allow an initial 15 seconds for competitors to read the quotations before beginning time.

If you have a student or coach with special needs, please let us know. We will be happy to provide accommodations.
