Dear Coaches,

 

Marquette Speech & Debate is pleased to invite your team to the Marquette Invitational held in-person at Marquette High School February 18-19, 2022.  

 

Following a lot of conversation and consideration we are choosing to go with an in-school tournament.  With NSDA and MSHSAA Districts slated to be held in-person, our hope is to give students an experience in live competition.  We know that some of you have concerns about returning to the schools for competition, and that is definitely understood.  It is not our intention to leave any one of our teams out; our hope is that by mid-February the situation will be less concerning.  

 

Registration for the tournament is handled through SpeechWire, and will be open Wednesday, January 19th and close February 9th.   We will be able to accept a maximum of 4 entries in each event and 4 entries in both varsity and championship debate.  Student Congress may submit up to 6 entries. There will not be a waitlist.

Our tournament philanthropy project is the Carl Hudson Memorial Scholarship Fund, in honor of our beloved principal who passed away in December.

 

Details and all other information is included in the tournament packet available on SpeechWire January 19th.  One more note, due to the amount of preparations that go into the in-person tournaments, we will not switch to a virtual event if things change beyond our control.
