We are excited to invite you to participate in the Thespian Excellence Awards contest series! Participation in this contest series can be in addition to, or in lieu of the WHSFA One-Act Play series. Please visit the WHSFA Theatre Contests webpage for more information, rules, category descriptions, etc.

Who does this contest serve?
  • Non-contest one-act schools (perhaps you are doing a large play/musical and cannot commit to the one-act contest. This gives your students an opportunity to still participate easily in interscholastic theatre, entirely online and asynchronously -- so it won't monopolize their schedule!
  • Contest one-act schools who have additional students who cannot commit to the one-act, but would like an interscholastic theatre experience.
  • Any school who has driven students who are seeking additional enrichment.
  • Students interested in technical theatre, who want additional practice, feedback, and exposure for their work.
This initial contest is a great PRACTICE opportunity for students to get feedback before the State Festival component in November.

Thespy Open videos/files due: Monday, Nov. 15.
Thespy Open adjudication window: Nov. 17-21.

Schools must provide an adjudicator for every 4 entries or fraction thereof. A single person may cover multiple adjudicator commitments; contact office@whsfa.org if you wish to cover multiple slots and we'll manually adjust your invoice. Uncovered adjudicator assignments are $100/each.

Students who earn an overall Superior rating for their State Festival entry will earn qualification to the International Thespian Festival, June 20-24, 2022 at Indiana University in Bloomington, Indiana.

More information will be posted here pertaining to accessing adjudicator ballots, etc., as the registration and video link window closes.
