COVID Protocols and Information

• teams should enter the building one at a time through the front doors.. they will be met at the door with instructions on where they should go to wait for postings. 
• ALL drops should be taken care of via Speechwire ahead of arrival. 
• Coaches MUST check-in with TAB on arrival.

Commons Area Distancing

• teams will be assigned areas in t in separate rooms depending on size

• any announcements will be communicated to teams prior to arrival. The location/type of opening will be dependent on tournament size.

• We will NOT sell full lunches; we will only have prepackaged snacks and drinks for sale -  Your students/judges are welcome to bring lunch or snack items with them.  

• awards will most likely be in the auditorium. 

• report to the TAB room to be escorted to the sick room. Coaches in charge will be notified of ill students and are expected to make arrangements for ill students to depart as soon as possible. Ill judges should advise the TAB room and depart as soon as possible.

• We will use e-ballots. Judges should bring a device with them. Judges should check-in with tournament staff in the judge area.

• we will only be using McKinley High School for this tournament; capacity is limited based on available rooms

• we will accept registration on Speechwire based on available rooms. Depending on interest, we may have to limit registration. We will advise as soon as we know!

We are OFFERING MIDDLE SCHOOL EVENTS THIS YEAR!!!!!!!!!   DOUBLE ENTRY TOO!!!!

 

One last change, due to covid precautions and some building stipulations.....for THIS YEAR ONLY.....we will be offering just THREE ROUNDS OF COMPETITION ...There will not be a final round.......WE will still award top 7 students per event . WE will serve snacks throughout the tournament but we will be able to send you home early to begin your holiday break. 

 

We will still be hosting three fantastic rounds of competition in speech and two in congress!

 

DOUBLE ENTRY IS PERMITTED!!!!! PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU HAVE MADE BID SELECTIONS IF YOU ARE DOUBLE ENTERED!

 

MASKS MUST BE WORN BY STUDENTS AND JUDGES.  STUDENTS MAY CHOOSE TO REMOVE MASKS WHEN SPEAKING.

Yes, it is time for the McKinley Speech Team's Holiday Speech Tournament. Ho ho ho!

Events: Drama, Humor, Original, Declamation, POI, Duo Interp, Informative  Congress, Domestic & International Extemp.AND  MIDDLE SCHOOL EVENTS!

Fees: $5.00 per entry except for Duo. Duo is $10.00    Team Entry base fee: $5.00

 

Congress Legislation We will follow the OHSSL Docket.

 

 

Awards – TROPHIES TO EVENTS CHAMPIONS. MEDALS WILL GO TO EACH MEMBER OF EACH EVENT'S TOP 7 IN 2021.

  Sweepstakes mention to top schools.  

 

FOOD SNACKS WILL BE AVAILABLE THROUGHOUT THE MORNING. THERE WILL NOT BE A DEDICATED LUNCH. We hope to have you on your way after our awards which will follow round 3.

 

 

 

Judges:

IE

1 -5 Contestants = 1 Judge

6 - 10 = 2 Judges

11 - 15 = 3 Judges

Etc.(in increments of five).

Congress

One judge per 6 congress people.

 

DO NOT DROP JUDGES!!!!!!

 

 

Entries: Entries will be unlimited but we may have to ask schools to trim entries due to space. Your first four entries will be protected from hitting each other.

 

Time Schedule: Please note the Time Schedule.   We are starting early so we can get Round 1 going by 9:00 a.m.

8:30 - 8:40 -General Announcements. Brief as we have much to do!

8:45 - 8:55: Judges' Announcements.
