SpeechWire Tournament Services - Forensics Tournament Software

Dear Colleagues:

The District 4 Committee is pleased to invite you to attend the 2nd D4 Fall Qualifying Tournament virtually on Saturday, December 4! Doane University will serve as virtual hosts of the synchronous one-day tournament using Speechwire and Zoom. The tournament will have two flights/two rounds and a final of 11 AFA individual events. Rounds/finals may be collapsed depending on the number of competitors. Please set your clocks to Central Standard Time for this tournament.

AFA-NIET District IV consists of colleges and universities in Iowa, Minnesota, Nebraska, North Dakota, South Dakota, and Wisconsin. To compete, please pay your District 4 subscription fees for the AFA- NST. Fees are $30 now or $50 after December 1, 2021. Fees can be paid directly on the AFA website here: https://www.americanforensicsassoc.org/product/national-individual-events-tournament/ Those of you who pay for your NST fee prior to our D4 Tournament, send along your receipt! If you'd like D4 to take care of your NST fee, we can add $50 to your registration. Just let me know!

Competitors may be entered in up to 3 events per flight. All team judges are expected to be available for final rounds and considered clean for final rounds. No one team may have more than 5 competitors entered in one event. The registration fee is $5 per entry. Please try to provide at least one judge who is clean to judge your team! We appreciate it! There is an "author, topic" spot on Speechwire where we'd like you to include any trigger warnings/content warnings for our judges.

As with the traditional Joel Hefling D4 Tournament in the spring, the top three competitors in all 11 AFA-NST events at the Fall Qualifier will count as district qualifiers to the 2022 AFA-NST. If that placement qualifies the student at large, the district qualification will “trickle-down” to the next student. No student that has qualified for an event at-large to the 2022 AFA-NST may enter the Fall District Qualifying Tournament in that event.

We will be using Speechwire for entries, e-ballots, and tabulation. Please go to their website to enter: www.speechwire.org. We will use Zoom for synchronous tournament rounds.
