Welcome to the Viking Invitational hosted by Ms. Eloise Findlay and the Lauderdale Lakes MS Debate Team!
 
This will be a VIRTUAL Middle School tournament on October 23rd, 2021.
 
Registration for NEW ENTRIES will close on THURSDAY, October 21st at 5pm. Changes (drops or name changes) can be made until 7am on October 23rd, the day of the tournament. Any changes after that, please text Eloise Findlay: 954.309.9632 the school name, student who is dropping, and their event. 
 
Entry fees are $10 per student.
 
We will have REAL AWARDS for our top performers!
 
Round 1 will start at 8:30am. All events will have 5 rounds other than Congress (2 prelim rounds and a final round) and Policy Debate (3 rounds).
 
For PF, the SEPTEMBER/OCTOBER topic will be used - Resolved: The North Atlantic Treaty Organization should substantially increase its defense commitments to the Baltic states.
 
For LD, the NOVICE topic will be used - Resolved: Civil disobedience in a democracy is morally justified.
 
For Policy Debate, the 2021-22 topic will be used - Resolved: The United States federal government should substantially increase its protection of water resources in the United States. In addition, all teams MUST use the Novice Policy Packet. The Novice Policy Packet can be accessed at http://www.debatecoaches.org/2021-2022-novice-packet
 
Extemp topic areas will be "US Politics", "the Middle East", "Healthcare in the US", "China", and "Climate Change", and Impromptu topic areas will be "Autumn", "Sports", "Movies", "Political Cartoons", and "Famous Quotes".
 
Congress legislation will be the November legislation from the DebateBroward fall legislation packet. If they finish the 4 November bills, they will move on to the October bills. The DebateBroward legislation for the fall semester was emailed to all coaches. It is also accessible electronically here under the "Files for Download" section.
