COMPETITION NOTES:

Competitors:

- Synchronous live speech and debate means competitors will login into their individual Speechwire accounts for each round. There, they will find links to the NSDA Campus rooms where they will meet their opponent(s) and judge(s).

- All competitors must have an active linked Speechwire account present so that you can select them in the drop-down box on the registration page.

- In order to use the NSDA Campus platform, all devices must have the Chrome platform installed(or Jitsi App on cell phones).

- We highly recommend that all competitors watch Ben Stewart’s video on how to compete in online tournaments: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MQgqptPqNtA&feature=emb_logo.

- Please discuss with your team members ways that they can ensure best wifi connectivity. At a minimum, competitors should be as close to their wifi router as possible during the extent of each round. If possible, competitors can invest in a simple ethernet cable (with compatible adapter for Chromebook or other device) to plug directly into the router for best connection. We realize this is not possible for all competitors but know that the more information we can provide, the better overall experience everyone will have.

Judges:

- Judges need to have an active Speechwire account. Please discuss with them how to properly create an account once you have submitted their email addresses.

- We are mandating that all judges watch this video for how to judge online tournaments: https://drive.google.com/file/d/14Qe0s4J3aLHhONIi3vkJ9K367rAOC_zF/view

- Here’s the link to the Cleveland District’s collection of judge training videos: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCabo2S-Y0NXV42JeuKC7QJA/videos

- In addition, judges can view the longer video created by Ben Stewart about judging online here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YJXxeVS-KgM

- Please discuss with your live judges ways that they can ensure best wifi connectivity. At a minimum, judges should be as close to their wifi router as possible during the extent of each debate. If possible, judges can invest in a simple ethernet cable (with compatible adapter for Chromebook or other device) to plug directly into the router for best connection. We realize this is not possible for all judges but know that the more information we can provide, the better overall experience everyone will have.
