Dear Coaches,

 

You and your newest and youngest speechies are invited to attend the TC Memorial Novice and Middle School Tournament on Saturday, October 30, 2021. We are planning to hold all events, though rounds will ultimately be decided with category registration in mind. Schedule of Events

7:30-7:45 Team Arrival to Designated Rooms, Coach Check-In

8:00 Opening Announcements (PA) / Judge’s Instructions (Auditorium)

8:30 Round I

9:45 Round II

11:00 Round III

11:45 Round IV (PF/LD only-if time permits) / Lunch (Pre-Order Boxed Lunch)

1:30…or ASAP Awards 1st – 6th Place (if applicable)

 

Events: All OSDA events (High School Novice and All Middle School)

Event Notes: **Debate will use November Topics**

**Please do not register any HS competitor who has earned 25+ NSDA points

**Mixed Duo, Policy, and Public Forum Teams May NOT Compete

**Congressional Debate will use the attached Legislation

(See Speechwire / Same as GlenOak Novice Legislation)

**All Middle School students are welcome (not only MS Novice)

Deadline: Wednesday, October 27th on Speechwire.com for planning purposes

Cost: $3.00 per student Payable to “CHS FFDA”

$5.00 Pre-Order Boxed Lunch (Snacks will be available without pre-order)

Judges: 1 per 5 IE 1 per 2 debate teams

1 per school with Congressional Debate Entries

Judges should be experienced competitors that will help our novices grow/learn

e-Ballots will be used; please remind your student judges to bring their device

 


 

NEW Carrollton High School – Carrollton Middle School Address

205 Scio Road Southeast, Carrollton, OH 44615.

  • Busses may drop off from the lane in front of the school and park in the HS Loop beside the stadium or the Student Parking to the right of the main entrance drive.  Pickup in the Bus Lane or the HS Loop will be designated by school.

  • Cars/Vans are welcome to park in the Visitors Parking located to the left of the Bus Lane

IN-PERSON

  • We are In-Person ONLY

 

MASKS

  • All competitors, judges, and coaches will be required to wear masks inside tournament venues.

  • Students can remove masks while performing or debating.

 

DOUBLE ENTRY

  • Yes

 

MIDDLE SCHOOL EVENTS

  • Yes!

  • We plan to offer all events; coaches will be notified in advance if registration is too low in any certain category to run the event.

 

e-BALLOTS

  • Yes

 

ARRIVAL / DISTANCING

  • Registration/arrival is set for 7:30-7:45 am

  • Adds/Drops Electronically

  • Teams report to designated classroom

  • Teams should enter one at a time 

  • Coach check in with TAB

  • Opening announcements will be made via the PA system

 

COMMON AREA / DISTANCING

  • Cafeteria tables assigned by team

  • Auditorium (judges) will be assigned by team

  • Gym/Auditorium sections assigned by team

 

JUDGES

  • Judges will be “housed” in theater

  • Check in with Tournament Staff

  • eBallots: Bring Devices!

 

OPENING CEREMONIES

  • Completed VIA PA System

  • Students will remain in designated team room until e-Ballots/Schematics sent

 

BALLOTS/SCHEMATICS

  • Only e-ballots will be utilized

  • Postings will be electronic

  • Text subscriptions will be open for all students and judges

  • Assignments will be emailed, texted, AND posted on SpeechWire, electronically  

 

ROUNDS

  • Students will move from one round to the next as directed by electronic notification 

  • In the event of delays between rounds, students will return to the room assigned to their school  

  • Judges will also move from round to round.  

  • If they are not assigned a round, the judge should return to the large judge’s area (auditorium)

 

LUNCH

  • Lunch for competitors and student-judges can be preordered as “boxed lunches” for $5.00.  

    • Lunch includes a wrap, chips, cookie, and bottled water

    • Please place your order for all boxed lunches

  • Water and various snacks will be sold separately (full lunches not pre-ordered will not be available)

  • Cafeteria tables assigned by team

 

AWARDS

  • CHS has a large enough area for the number of participants, a traditional award ceremony will be held

  • Gym/Auditorium sections assigned by team

 

DEPARTURE

  • Use Designated Doors

 

ILLNESS AT TOURNAMENT

  • Report to Designated Room

  • Inform Coach in Charge ASAP

  • Depart ASAP
