Welcome to HOMECOMING hosted by Colorado Students Speak (CSS) and Mullen High School!

*Our mission at Colorado Students Speak is to create opportunities for students and coaches in Colorado to learn and participate in Speech & Debate throughout the year, regardless of their experience level.

This will be the first of several planned tournaments that Colorado Students Speak will offer this season and all tournaments we offer will include a Novice or JV Division.

This Tournament is NOVICE-ONLY as required by CHSAA rules during the month of October.

The following details are likely relevant to everyone interested in attending and will be Updated as we get closer to the tournament date.

NEW:  In order to run the tournament as smoothly a possible, there will be NO DOUBLE ENTRIES in any event.  We hope this is not a significant inconvenience for anyone.

1. The Entry Fee for this Tournament is $0 (FREE).  Since the Novice season this year is still burdened by COVID - we wanted to create a competition opportunity for ALL SCHOOLS with no marrier to entry.

2. THIS IS A LIVE ONLINE TOURNAMENT.  All students need a Speechwire account in order to participate and we recommend the use of the Google Chrome browser.

3. WE DO NEED VARSITY STUDENT JUDGES! Consequently, we will charge a FEE ONLY if your school does not provide varsity students to help judge.  Please contact me if you have a newer program and are unable to provide student judges.

4. The ENTRY DEADLINE is Friday, October 15 at noon.

5. We offer ALL CHSAA Tournament Events (DI, HI, Duo, Poe, POI, Info, OO, Extemp, PF, LD) except Policy Debate and we are also offering Big Questions Debate.

6. Teams are limited to a maximum of five entries per event.

7. We will offer a brief judge orientation on Saturday morning before rounds begin.

8.  We are offering three rounds in all events.  The Tournamen Schedule is posted and we expect to start awards no later than 2:00 pm.

9.  There will be no physical awards, but we will offer an online awards ceremony at the conclusion of the tournament.

We hope this tournament provides an easy-going opportunity for your students and look forward to seeing you on October 16th!

Warmly,

Mike Trevithick
