Regis Jesuit Novice Tournament
Location: Regis Jesuit High School, 6300 Lewiston Way, Aurora CO 80016--In-Person!
Date: October 9, 2021
Time: 8:00-3:00
The excitement awaits.
NOTE: Due to ongoing COVID restrictions in our county, masks must be worn at ALL times while indoors. This requirement extends to students even while speaking.
Registration
Deadline: Please register by October 4.
Limit: Per tradition we will accept up to five (5) entries in each event.
Cost: $6 per student, $10 per team event based on preregistration on October 9th.
Payment: Make checks payable to Regis Jesuit High School with note " Speech & Debate."
Judges: Please bring one varsity student judge for each five speech entries and one for every two debate entries. We will use all student judges every round and will offer a basic training session prior to the tournament. Please explain to students that the more events they're willing to judge, the better the chance that we'll get to use them every round.

Platform: Original Oratory, Informative Speaking, Combined Extemporaneous Speaking
Interpretive: Humor, Drama, Poetry, Duo, Program Oral Interpretation
Debate: Lincoln-Douglas, Public Forum, Policy Debate
Debate Topics:
Public Forum – Resolved: The North Atlantic Treaty Organization should substantially increase its defense commitments to the Baltic states.
Lincoln-Douglas – Resolved: The member nations of the World Trade Organization ought to reduce intellectual property protections for medicines.
Policy – Resolved: The United States federal government should substantially increase its protection of water resources in the United States.
