Harvest Festival Tournament Synch
General information This information is from a tournament in a past season! This is a College tournament in Nebraska. View manager contact information Hello,
The University of Nebraska–Lincoln and its alumni would like to invite you the Harvest Festival Swing to be held in two parts an asynchronous alumni tournament during the week Tuesday November 2nd-Friday November 5th and a synchronous online on tournament on Saturday November 6th for a week of educational and competitive fun. The theme of the tournament will pull from the TV show Parks & Rec, with special attention to season 3’s Harvest Festival story arc. We may not have funnel cakes or corn mazes, but we just might have themed impromptu quotations. We have not heard whether Larry Bird’s Aunt Tilda will be able to make it into the Jitsi Room for awards, but our fingers are crossed. The asynchronous alumni tournament will feature three rounds and the synchronous hosting a 2/1 IE tournament. Currently, the plan for the synchronous tournament is to do three rounds with no finals but if the size of the tournament warrants it, we reserve the right to add finals. All information and Registration can be found on www.speechwire.com. We will be using Jitsi for the synchronous streaming of all rounds. Visit https://jitsi.org/ to get started. For more information, please contact University of Nebraska Lincoln Director of Speech and Debate Aaron Duncan aduncan3@unl.edu 402-450-7830 or Director of Speech Allison Bonander, (402) 690-8152, allisonbonander@unl.edu We hope to see you for great tournament. Recording of synchronous performances is prohibited. 5. Should the need arise we reserve the right to institute entry caps and to put students of the same team in the same section to make their team judges usable 6. Depending on tournament size we reserve the right to collapse the Saturday tournament to a single flight.
Judges Code of Ethics: We believe it is important to create a positive educational environment for all students participating at the tournament. Any judge found to be making comments on ballots that are deemed to be racist, sexist, or otherwise discriminatory by the tournament director will be removed from the judging pool immediately. It is also our expectation that all judges make supportive comments and do use not use overly penal speaker points. If judges are found to be engaging in those behaviors, they will be asked to change immediately or be removed from the judging pool. Any schools that have judges removed from the pool will be charged for uncovered slot fees.
