Forensics 500 Audrey Cunningham Debate Tournament

Dear Forensics Friends,
You are cordially invited to the Forensics 500 Audrey Cunningham Debate Tournament! The University of Indianapolis Communication Department will host this event VIRTUALLY and SYNCHRONOUSLY on Sunday, September 26, 2021. This will be a swing competition with the Butler University Forensics 500 Audrey Cunningham Speech tournament, which takes place on Saturday, September 25, 2021.
The UIndy Forensics 500 is a one-day DEBATE tournament with NPDA Debate. The tournament will offer four preliminary rounds and out-rounds as necessary. All competition will feature the use of Yaatly tournament software with registration, balloting, and tabulation using Speechwire. Tournament registration will be run through Speechwire.com. We will recognize top novices and create novice sections for any event with more entries.
Please note the entry deadline of 5:00pm (Eastern) on Tuesday, September 21, 2021. We anticipate an educational, challenging, and very entertaining tournament and hope you will join us, virtually!

Tournament Notes
1. We will follow NFA rules. 2. Impromptu will be quotations first round, proverbs second round, and a single word for the final round.
3. FEES: For debate, the entry is $50 per team. One judge covers two teams with a $50 fee per uncovered team.
4. JUDGES: Any drops (including dropped judges) must be made by 5:00 p.m., September 24th. Any drops made after that deadline will be fined $10.00 per slot. The day of the tournament each dropped slot will cost $20.00. This is in addition to the original fees. A dropped judge will be $50.00 day of tournament.
5. PLEASE BRING ALL AVAILABLE JUDGES! We want your judges, not your money. If your entry is so large that you cannot be used as a judge, the tournament director reserves the right to remove contestants so that you may fulfill your judging responsibilities.
6. Tournament Notes: o If the total entry size warrants, we’ll have both novice and varsity divisions. Novice is defined as any debater who has only debated up to 10 tournaments at any level (high school, debate consortium, etc.). o Preparation with coaches & teammates, internet searches, etc. post-topic release are permitted. o Results will not be released after each round, teams will be able to access ballots once the tournament is completed. o Speaker awards for the top 6 (both novice & varsity if warranted) will be announced with the out round participants.
