Dear Speech Coaches,

 

The Osakis and Parkers Prairie Speech teams wish to invite you to our invitational. The tournament will be held Saturday, March 20.

 

All thirteen categories will be offered. Team awards will be given to the top three schools.  Medals will be presented to the top three speakers in each category with fourth and fifth place receiving ribbons. Blue and Red ribbons will also be awarded. Awards will be mailed to each school. 

 

The cost will be $6.00 per entry – double entries are allowed, but not for two draw categories and not for discussion. This decision was made with the judges and flow of the tournament in mind.

Duos can compete live or via submitted recording. Recordings will not be sent to the tournament manager. Rather, during each round, the duo can insert the link to their video in the chat of NSDA Campus.

 

Draws will be done a bit differently. Each coach will receive the draws and discussion tasks the morning of the tournament and are responsible for running their own draw room and distributing tasks right before the rounds. This decision was made with two things in mind: 1- the difficulties we have seen in running draw rooms and 2- trust in our fellow coaches. We are trying to run as smooth a tournament as possible and are trying this out. 

 

Checks should be written to Parkers Prairie Speech Team. Please provide one judge for every 6.5 entries or portion thereof. Registration deadline will be Wednesday, March 17. Please enter your students’ names on Speechwire at the time of registration. All adds and drops must be received by the end of the day on March 17 again via Speechwire.  After this date you will be financially responsible for all additional adds or drops. 8:30 Judges’ meeting (zoom link will be sent the week of the tournament to coaches)

9:00 Round 1

10:30 Round 2

12:00 Round 3 

Awards will be recorded and posted online the same day. The link will be shared with coaches as soon as possible.
