You are invited to attend the Millard North Mustang Middle School Invitational. We are hosting on Friday April 23rd this year.  Any student enrolled in 6th through 8th hour is eligible to compete.

THIS IS A FULLY REMOTE TOURNAMENT. I WILL SEND LOTS OF INFORMATION ABOUT HOW THIS WORKS, BUT WE HAVE DONE IT ALL SEASON IN HIGH SCHOOL AND IT IS NOT DIFFICULT FOR STUDENTS OR JUDGES. YOUR STUDENTS MUST HAVE A SPEECHWIRE ACCOUNT, AND A COACH HAS TO CREATE THAT ACCOUNT, BUT THAT IS THE ONLY SET UP YOU NEED TO DO AS A COACH

Events: All students may double enter, no triple entries are allowed. HI, DI, Poetry, Oratory, Declamation, Duet Acting, Extemp and Impromptu.
** We have added Informative speaking***

Time Limits: HI, DI, OO, DEC, POE, INF time limit is 8 min max. Duet is 10 min max. EXT max is 5 min and IMP max is 4 min.

Extemp Prep: We will be allowing computers in extemp prep per the high school NSAA rules. Obviously we cannot monitor internet use in a remote tournament - so it is open internet access. And they MUST have their cameras ON in the prep room.  Prep time is 30 min

Impromptu - prep time is 5 min, speech time limit is 4 min. Topic will be lighthearted and no sources are needed.

Informative - you may use visual aids, they are not required.

Format: We will be hosting three preliminary rounds of competition and then awards. There will not be a finals round.

Awards: We will be providing each student who places with a custom laptop sticker and a nice certificate - these will be mailed out after the tournament

Judging: We ask that you bring one judge for every SIX entries. (6 entries you owe one judge, 7 entries you owe two) Judges may be qualified varsity members from high school teams, but please make sure you train them on how to judge every event,  and stress the importance of lots of positive feedback and constructive criticism. Many high school coaches would be happy to help you fill judging requirements with their students. If you need contact information for coaches please email Sabrina. Coaches are always welcome to judge. I know many of you use parents, please make sure they are trained on the norms of the event and understand how to judge. You are welcome to bring extra judges if you have any. Millard North competitors will also judge.

Fees: Entries at $8.00 per entry and judge fees are $10.00 per uncovered entry/slot (you pay per uncovered, individual entry). **We also added a $15 team fee this year to help cover the cost of awards and mailing awards. Without concessions money we don't actually profit after tournament fees are paid, so thank you for understanding that this fee just helps us cover basic costs.

Entry Deadlines: Registration will close at 8:00pm on Tuesday April 20th

Food: There will be concessions available for purchase at the school concessions stand throughout the evening.
