Greetings Friends,

We are so excited to be hosting the Clover Classic. We will be offering one asynchronous tournament with all 11 AFA events March 9th-12th, 2021.

TOURNAMENT STRUCTURE:

We will use SpeechWire for registration and tabulation. To register, please visit http://www.speechwire.com/. We will be using electronic ballots (e-ballots). Please instruct all school judges to have a device with internet capabilities (phone, tablet, or laptop). Here is a video with more information regarding Speechwire’s e-ballot system: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YJXxeVS-KgM

Students may enter as many events as they would like. There will be three rounds, no finals. Ties in individual events for this tournament will be broken on the following: Ranks, Head to Head, Strength of Opposition, Speaker Points.

Team sweepstakes points will be awarded based on the following formula: 10 points for first, 8 points for second, 6 points for third, 4 points for fourth, 2 points for fifth, and 1 point for sixth. Ties in team sweepstakes will be broken on number of finals followed by number of 1st’ place finishes, 2nd’ place finishes, etc.

ENTRY DEADLINE:  Entries and video links are due Tuesday, March 9th by 9:00pm CST.  Please submit your entries to www.speechwire.com.  Look for the “Clover Classic”. Fees will be assessed by the information we have available by Tuesday, March 9th at 9:00pm CST. As always, we ask that you cover as many slots as possible with usable judges. Questions for the tournament can be sent to either Jennifer (jennifer.torres@doane.edu) or Nathaniel (nathaniel.wilson@doane.edu).

ENTRY FEES:  $5.00 per slot. $10.00 per uncovered slot. We need your judges more than your money so please, please help us by bringing judges. Each judge covers 6 slots. All judges are expected to be knowledgeable of updated rules.

Checks should be made out to - Doane Forensics

Please send payments to:

VIDEO SUBMISSIONS:

One video submission per student event will be used for all rounds.

Please upload individual events to Youtube, unlisted and include the student’s full name and event in the “title” of the youtube video. When possible, please do not include the name of your college/university in the name of the Youtube account/channel. Links must be provided with entries, no later than Tuesday, March 9th 9:00pm CST. All entries are final.

*The tournament reserves the right to institute and utilize team event caps based on the number of teams and number of entries at the registration deadline.

LP PROMPTS:

Quotations and extemp question(s) will be posted to the tournament’s speechwire page at 5pm CST on Monday, March 8th. We trust all students and coaches to adhere to Limited Prep guidelines and honor code for preparation. Ext prep does not need to be included in the performance video. However, please include read and prep time in all Impromptu videos (this can make starting the video camera easier for students, and assessing time allocation possible for judging).

All Imp judges will be reminded to allow an initial 15 seconds for competitors to read the quotations before beginning time.

ACCOMMODATIONS:

If you have a student or coach with special needs, please let us know. We will be happy to provide accommodations.
