  3. Entries are due via SpeechWire no later than Tuesday, March 2, at 5 pm EST. Entries without video links at that time will be dropped.
  4. The same event recording will be used for preliminary and final rounds. Please ensure the video is “unlisted” on YouTube rather than set to “private” so that judges can successfully view the recording.
  5. Coaches/Team captains—it is important that you confirm all of your team’s video links are accurate and accessible by the registration deadline.
  6. LP prompts will be released as a downloadable file on the Lucky 7 SpeechWire page by 5 pm EST on Friday, February 26.

ENTRY FEES AND JUDGE REQUIREMENTS

  1. Entry fees are $7 per event slot.
  2. Please provide a qualified judge for every six events. All uncovered slots will incur an additional $15 fee.
  3. Any entries dropped after the registration deadline will be assessed the original entry fee plus an additional $10 penalty.
  4. Any judges dropped after ballots have been released will each be assessed a $100 fee.
  5. Any judges failing to turn ballots in on time will each be assessed a $100 fee (unless arrangements have been made in advance with the tournament director).
  6. A finalized JMU invoice will be emailed directly to head coaches or team captains after the conclusion of the tournament along with payment information about how to make out checks.
  7. Payments are due in the form of mailed checks within 30 days after final invoices are emailed (unless other payment arrangements have been approved prior).

COMPETITION AND RECOGNITION

  1. At the synchronous awards ceremony we will recognize the finalists in each event, the top three individual sweeps winners, and the top three schools.
  2. All students entered will be eligible for individual sweeps, regardless of the number of events they are entered in.
  3. We will use AFA-style rules and tabulation.

RECENT AFA-NST CHANGES

The tournament will run in accordance with recent AFA-NST changes for the 2020-2021 competitive season. Of particular note, please understand that:

  1. Participants may use only a single microphone and camera while recording their video submission.
  2. Live, in-person audiences are not permitted.
  3. Participants competing in duo interpretation must compete in separate locations and are not permitted to be on the same screen as their partner.
  4. Material (e.g., scripts, topics, programs) cannot have been run by a competitor prior to September 1, 2020.
  5. All other relevant AFA-NST legislation for regular-season qualifying tournaments will guide the tournaments’ policies.
