Good Morning!

Registration for Nat Quals Congress opens today and closes on March 6th at 5:00 pm.  Please get your entries into SpeechWire ASAP.

One other note.  You will need to e-mail maryrose_kohan@dpsk12.net - with the list of how you want to divide your students among the houses.  Your entry limit is 2 in the Senate and the total limit for House entries is based on your number of NSDA degrees.  You can refer to the NSDA website to check that number.

As always the number of entries in determines the number of entries out. We know in this difficult year organizing a congress roster may be tricky, however, we are always excited to send as many Rocky South students to Nationals as possible. Thank you in advance for helping us keep our numbers in congress healthy!

Judging: Currently assessing what our judge needs will be is difficult till we know how many schools are participating. So our current request is that any school participating brings 2 UNAFFILIATED (as possible) judges to the tournament. Once we have numbers locked in, we can focus on judges and if our judges entered as well we can preschedule them and ensure that they are not sitting around waiting for ballots. However, this will be a community effort to ensure that happens. So once again thank you in advance for helping with this!

The docket was sent out already and is also available under files for download.

Current NSDA Senate and Congress Ratios:

A. Senate

  1. A district with eight (8) or more schools represented in the Senate will qualify two (2) senators to the National Senate. If fewer than eight (8) schools are represented, no Senate may be seated; however, a district may still conduct a House with sufficient entries.

B. House of Representatives

A minimum of 16 students must be represented in the House. Refer to the chart below to determine number of House chambers, final round requirements, and advancement to the National House (note that the number of students in the far left column is based on participation—speaking or presiding at least once).
