Welcome to NFCFL Grand Finals:!

This page contains important information about event regulations and topics.  For all events, we follow the NCFL National guidelines and rules.  Please refer to those or contact Bob Dolan at NFCFLPresident@gmail,com with any questions.  The registration deadline for this tournament is WEDNESDAY FEBRUARY 24th at 8PM.  Please read all information you receive in regard to this tournament carefully, as procedures for Grand Finals are different than qualifying tournaments.

Please note that all scheduled round times are TENTATIVE. We will progress the tournament as quickly as possible, so it is important that all competitors and judges keep attuned to their phnes and computers.

COMPETITION IN ALL EVENTS WILL BEGIN ON FRIDAY, February 26th AT 4:30PM, with Extemp Draw at 4 PM.   

COMPETITION ON SATURDAY WILL BEGIN AT 8:00AM.  PLEASE PLAN TO BE ON YAATLY  BY 7:45AM.

We will be offering the following events:

  • Declamation (For 9th and 10th grade students ONLY)
  • Extemporaneous speaking
  • Original Oratory
  • Oral Interpretation of Literature (Prose/Poetry) PROSE IN ROUND ONE, THEN ALTERNATING.
  • Duo Interpretation (ASYNCHRONOUS; RECORDING UPLOADED BY THURSDAY NIGHT, FEBRUARY 25TH AT 8PM)
  • Dramatic Performance
  • Public Forum
  • Lincoln Douglas Debate
  • Congressional Debate
  • Policy Debate

As this is our National Qualifier, all events will be in the Varsity division only.  Novices are welcome to compete, but there will be no novice designation nor any best novice awards.

For this tournament, we will offer 5 rounds of competition in all events, and elimination rounds for all events over 18 entries with the exception of Congress.  Congressional debate will split to two chambers and have a super session after 28 entries is surpassed.

Debate Topics:

We will be using the NSDA debate topics for the months of February (PF), January/February (LD), and 2020-2021 resolution (CX) for this tournamen

Are posted on Speechwire inder "Files for Download, and are the same TOPIC AREA as NFCFL #6.

Congress Announcements:

As previously announced, Legislation was due last Friday, FEbruary 19th. The Legislation Packet, including the Staff prepared Legislation for the Super Session, is available now under "Files for Download".

For this year only: The National Organiation, due to the "Virtual" (online) nature of the National tournament has increased our number of Qualifiers to NINE (9) per event.
