ALL-STAR FORENSICS TOURNAMENT

SATURDAY, MARCH 6

Greetings Coaches & Friends!

We are pleased to invite you to our WHSFA tournament, but we welcome WFCA teams as well.

Registration:

Complete registration through SpeechWire. Each individual entry is $7 and $10 for each group (Group Interp and Play Acting) entry. The deadline for registration and video upload is Wednesday, March 3 at 5:00 PM. Fees will be assessed at this time regardless of drops. We will email you an invoice.

Every school must provide one judge for every 5 entries or portion thereof.  Please make every effort to bring your own certified judges.  NOTE: If you cannot find a judge, we will hire one for you at a cost of $150 per judge. Make checks payable to Whitnall High School, Attn. Beth Voelkel, 5000 S. 116th Street, Greenfield, WI 53228.

Schedule:

Limited preparation prompts will be released via Speechwire at 1:00 PM on Friday, February 26. (Here are the limited preparation materials.) We will operate on the honor system that students and coaches will abide by WHSFA rules when preparing and delivering the events in question, including but not limited to time limits for preparation/delivery, lack of outside assistance, and use of approved materials/resources for competition.

Entries registration and uploaded YouTube performance links are due by 5:00 PM on Wednesday, March 3.

Judges’ round assignments and videos will be distributed at 5:00PM on Friday, March 5.

Round 1 ballots are due by 10:00AM on Saturday, March 6.

Round 2 ballots are due by 11:00AM on Saturday, March 6.

Round 3 ballots are due by 12:00PM on Saturday, March 6.

Power rounds and judging assignments will be released by 1:00 PM on Saturday, March 6.

Power round ballots will be due by 2:30 PM on Saturday, March 6.

Awards will be announced ASAP on Saturday, March 6. Trophies will be mailed/delivered to coaches.

Speaker Videos:

Most categories will require only one original video and its link.

Any entry in Extemp, Impromptu, and Radio requires uploads of three separate original videos via four YouTube links. Prep materials for these categories will be sent on Friday, February 26.

Any entry in Storytelling requires three separate original videos via three YouTube links. Stories are assigned by round: Round 1: Ghosts/vampires/zombies/other undead; Round 2: Fable; and Round 3: Finally being heard.

Any entry in Extemp, Impromptu, Radio, and Storytelling will require the speaker to choose one of the three performances to serve as the final round video. Upload this link in video #4.

Awards:

The top three speakers in each category will receive trophies—finalists will receive medals. The top two large schools, top two medium schools, and top two small school teams will receive trophies. Distinctions of large, medium, and small school categories are contingent on participating team sizes and will be determined on the day of the event.

We look forward to “seeing” you at our event.

Sincerely,

Beth Voelkel
