Willmar Cardinal Junior High Speech Meet

 

We would like to welcome you and your 7-9th graders to join us for a junior high school Speech tournament Thursday, February 25. Our hope is to provide our youngest speakers with an opportunity to compete with others of a similar level while still utilizing the programs and format they would see in a varsity competition.

 

There will be 3 rounds of synchronous competition using NSDA Campus (except duo, which will be asynchronous). All 13 MSHSL categories will be offered and double entering is allowed. Draw categories should come prepared.

SCHEDULE: 

2:45-3:15     Registration - check that your students and judges are ready. Make last minute adds/drops on Speechwire. 

4:00 - Round 1

5:15 - Round 2

A little extra time is planned before Round 3 to allow for a supper break.

Entry deadline:

Please submit your initial entries by 3 pm Friday, February 19. Please make adds/drops throughout the week when you know of them.  PLEASE make any last-minute changes on Speechwire BEFORE 3:15 on Thursday afternoon. 

Platforms:

We will run all events synchronously (live) on NSDA Campus with the exception of Duo Interpretation, which will be run asynchronously (pre-recorded). If you have a student in a synchronous category who cannot compete live, please let us know. We will try to accommodate an asynchronous student in a synchronous category. 

JUDGES:

Your school must provide one judge for every six entries or fraction thereof. We are asking that all judges be adults with no student judges.

Please keep in mind that small tournaments may mean that we cannot keep judges clean, so your judges need to know they might have to judge a member of your team. Obviously we will work to avoid that at all possible. We have judges available for hire at $90 per judge.

ARRIVAL: 

You must let us know by 3:15 on Thursday afternoon that you have all students and judges checked in, with no further changes to your roster. We will be site scheduling, and hope to have schematics posted and blasted out to everyone before 3:30. We will have a judges meeting at 3:30 PM.
