Waupaca High School would like to invite you to our annual Waupaca Green Tournament on Saturday, March 20. This is just three weeks prior to the WFCA State Tournamnet on April 10!

ENTRIES & AWARDS:  Each school is welcome to enter as many students as they would like, but sweepstakes awards will be based on the top 25 entries for each school.  No more than four entries per category will count for sweepstakes but additional entries are welcome.  Trophies will be awarded to the top 3 large schools, the top 3 medium schools, the top 3 small schools, and the top three individuals in each event.  The top three speakers in each category will receive a special medal, and all other finalists will receive a finalist medal.  Large school winners will be determined by total points; medium and small school winners will be determined qualitatively (average per entry). Division sizes will be determined during the week of the tournament based on actual team entries.

EVENTS: We offer all standard WFCA events. We will also offer competition in NCFL's Oratorical Declamation for freshmen and sophomores.  We will permit DOUBLE and TRIPLE entries awarding a DOUBLE and TRIPLE CROWN to the students who are double or triple entered and earn the most points.  Students may not double enter in both radio and extemp.

RULES:  Rules will be those stated inthe WFCA (www.wfcaforensics.org) handbook except for Oratorical Declamation.  NCFL rules will be used in this category. Rules for this category can be found at www.ncfl.org.

FEES: The cost is $10.00 per individual entry and $13.00 per group entry.

JUDGES: Each school must bring 1 judge for every 5 entries to a maximum of 10 judges.  We are happy to provide judges as needed. If you chose to hire a judge from us, the cost is $110. All judges should be available for power rounds. Head coaches must make sure that all judges are briefed in rules and judging etiquette, particularly in regards to judging online competition.

VIDEOS: Record as many times as you would like, but submit only an unedited, one-take video as the official entry. Upload videos to YouTube as "Unlisted" and include the links with the entry (you will see an icon for the video links in Speechwire). Suggested naming convention: Include the student's last name and appropriate category information (e.g., "Otte Demonstration," "Cummings OIL Prose," "Christensen Storytelling Fable," etc.

STORYTELLING: Videos should be in the following order

  1. Round 1 - Fable
  2. Round 2 - Finally being heard
  3. Round 3 - Undead
  4. Final - Student's Choice

ORAL INTERP: Please enter rounds as follows:

  1. Rounds 1 & 3 - POETRY (Video 1)
  2. Rounds 2 & Finals - PROSE (Video 2)

IMPROMPTU: The video should be the full five minutes. This includes prep time and speaking. SUGGESTED but not REQUIRED: Include in your recording the act of the student drawing the prompt. The time the student makes to choose between the prompts is NOT included in the total time for the speech.

RADIO and EXTEMP: Do NOT record and submit prep for these events. Students should upload their performances within 45 minutes of opening the attached prep materials. Limited prep category materials will be released on Thursday, March 11, by 7:00 p.m. We will send materials directly to coaches via e-mail and will have more detailed instructions in that e-mail. Update: One video will be used for all rounds.

GROUP INTERP, DUO, and PLAY ACTING: Please have students record videos in split screen, even if competitors reside in the same household.
