Dear Speech Coach:

Glenbard South High School Speech Team cordially invites you to participate in our very first GBS State Consolation Tournament, on February 20, 2021.   This completely asynchronous tournament will consist of 3 virtual prelim rounds and a final round with 3 judges in all 14 events.  It is our goal to provide an alternative end-of-the-season tournament for students who do not qualify for the Illinois state tournament.  Each team will be eligible to compete for a team award and individuals from each team will be eligible to advance to the elimination rounds.  

Entry Fees:

$150 for 1 entry in any one or all events (3 judges)

$175 for teams with 2 entries in any event (4 judges)

$200 for teams with 3 entries in any event (5 judges)

(No team will be allowed to enter more than 3 entries per event.)

Judges: 

You must enter your judges (see required numbers above) on Speechwire by Monday night, Feb. 15, at 6pm.  Your hired judges need to be available on Saturday until 1pm. We will be using most if not all of them. 

Prelims: 

All videos need to be submitted by 8pm on Wednesday, Feb. 17.  Please check all of your videos to ensure they work and anyone can access them with the link. Judges will have access to their videos on Thursday and will need to finish all judging by 7pm on Friday.. Competitors will be able to access the videos of all those in their prelim rounds.

Finals: 

Judges will receive their final round videos by 11am on Saturday, Feb. 20. Final rounds will be judged by 1pm on Saturday, and final rankings and awards will be posted on Speechwire by 2pm. 

Limited Prep:

Prompts for EXT and IMP and the Radio packet will be sent out on Tuesday morning by 7am.

Duets:

Duets will count as part of team sweeps

Triple-Entering:

Please use your best judgement in terms of triple-entering students. 

Tab/Help Desk

We will provide a link to our  Zoom help desk/tab room, and  if you or a judge runs into any issue, if you want to check how your kids are doing, or if you just want to pop in, say hello, you are encouraged to do so.

Awards:

Final individual results and team rankings will be posted on Speechwire by 2pm.  We will mail individual and team awards to the school address you provide.

     If you are interested in participating, please follow the instructions in the Speechwire email and make your entries before February 15. 2021.
