The Howland Forensics program is pleased to be hosting what we hope will be the LAST VIRTUAL TOURNAMENT EVER (unless it is for fun!)
Our tournament will synchronous/live through NSDA campus. All judges entered will need accounts made with email addresses.
As this is the last regular meet of the season (and we have debated these topics into the ground), we will move this as quickly as possible.
Currently, we are offering 3 rounds in all IE and debate. ****Extemp will Draw 1 and 2 and repeat favorite for round 3
We will be hosting a student congress. There will be no final congress. Awards will result from merged chambers.
We are also offering most Middle School events (no BQD).
We will NOT be offering BQD or Policy.
Cost per student is $5.00. CHECKS MUST BE MADE TO HOWLAND BOOSTER CLUB c/o Howland Speech Team
Debate and Congress will use NSDA topics and OSDA congress docket for 1/30/20 . Please see OSDA and NSDA for topics. Middle School school docket will be 1,3,5,7,9,11
Enter as many students as you like in all events. Mark 4 entries in each event as varsity.
Judges:
IE: One (1) judge for every 5 IE entries (a Duo team counts as one entry) for either HS or MS. We are hoping to run sections of 4 so we need the judges.
Public Forum/LD/EXTD: One (1) judge for every 1-2 debaters/teams (2) judges for 3-4 entries (3) judges for 5-6 entries...etc.
Congress: One (1) scorer or parliamentarian for each school that has Congress entries. IF YOU HAVE HS AND MS CONGRESS YOU MUST HAVE ONE JUDGE FOR HS AND ONE FOR MS.
The fee for being short judges is $30.00 per judge. This fee will be enforced. JUDGES DROPPED THE DAY OF THE MEET WILL RESULT IN A $30 FINE.
Tentative Schedule
Register by 8:15.
Extemp draw and congress postings by 8:45. All rounds to start at 9:00.
Round 1 9:00
Round 2 10:00
Round 3 11:00
Awards: 12:30ish--We will not be broadcasting an opening or closing ceremony (to keep things moving). Coaches will be emailed copies of the tournament results to share as they wish. A certificate template will be provided.
Please confirm your school's attendance and tentative numbers ASAP.
All other logistics will be sent once we get everything set up in NSDA campus.
