The Prescott High School Forensics team would like to invite you and your team to the Prescott High School Forensics Virtual Tournament on January 30.  We will be using the WHSFA rules in all sixteen categories. The following information describes tournament rules and requirements:

ENTRIES: A school may bring as many entries as they’d like (since we’re not limited to physical space). Entry fees are $7.00 per individual entry and $12.00 per group entry. Checks should be made out to Prescott High School Forensics

JUDGES: Each school should provide one judge for every six entries or fraction thereof. Coaches will need to supply email addresses for judges where their Speechwire log in information will be sent.  Hired judges are available for a flat fee of $75 for each uncovered entry.

AWARDS: There will be awards for first through fifth place in each category. Sweepstakes will be awarded to the top three teams. We will be livestreaming awards on a platform yet to be determined. Awards will be mailed within a week of the tournament.

VIDEOS: Record as many times as you would like, but submit only an unedited, one-take video as the official entry. All videos should be named with student’s last name and event (For example: Matzek, Prose). This will make it easier for judges to know which video they are watching while judging. Include the link with the entry (you will see an icon for the video links in Speechwire). Please advise your students that the background, lighting, and sound quality will not be judged; however, they should try to find a quiet place to record. This same video performance will be used for all three rounds with these exceptions:

  1. Storytelling: In the title of the video, along with the student’s last name and category, also include the topic. Please submit storytelling videos in this order:

    1. Round 1: Ghosts/vampires/zombies/other undead

    2. Round 2: Finally Being Heard

    3. Round 3: Fables

  2. Impromptu: The video should be the full 5 minutes, including both the prep time and speaking.

  3. Radio News Reporting and Extemp. Speaking: These students don’t need to record and submit their prep time for those events, but students should upload their performance within 45 minutes of opening the prep materials.
