Good Morning,

The “Aquinas 4N6 Perfect 10th” will take place on Saturday February 20th, 2021.  As we all know we are in a fluid year/situation. So, let’s begin this information with the Covid precautions here at Aquinas in David City.

Social Distancing:

  1. Masks are required to be worn by coaches and judges, at all times.
  2. Students are required to be masked at all times that they are not performing.  This includes double entered students that are going from one room to another, or to the gym to get their stand/materials for their next round. (They are also more than welcome to compete in masks as well.)
  3. We will have areas of the gyms marked out for each team. Your team must be in these areas when not competing.
  4. For OID and Duet only the group performing should be in the room with the judge(s) while the performance is happening.  The on deck group should be in the hall outside the door, and the other groups should remain in their home bases until they are on deck.
  5. Depending upon the risk dial the week of the competition a determination will be made about other events only having the speaker in the room with the judge or not.
  6. All must be masked at the concession stand while ordering.
  7. We will not be able to offer our hospitality room this year.
  8. We are going to try e-ballots this season, and we will also be posting schematics on the SpeechWire website.

Registration: The registration/adds deadline will be 6:15p.m. on Wednesday February 17th, 2021.

  1. Entry drops may be submitted any time before 7 a.m. on the 20th.
  2. Judge Drops must be submitted by Thursday Feb. 18th by 9:00p.m., to avoid drop fees.
  3. Judge drops after 9p.m. on the 18th will be assessed a $12.00 fee.

Competition: All events will have 2 preliminary rounds and finals.

  1. Due to the constraints of this year, at this time we are not planning to have 2 judges in prelim rounds, but hope to return to that next season.
  2. There will be 2 judges in finals, as there would be at a conference, district, or state competition with social distancing requirements followed.
  3. As always we will make an effort to use hired judges before coaches when assigning rounds.
  4. We only offer Varsity Divisions. Feel free to enter JV competitors as Varsity, but we will not separate JV into their own division.

Events: We will be offering 9 NSAA State Competition events (No POI).

  1. We will follow NSAA time limits for classes B-D2.
  2. We are also going to hold off on running Impromptu this season to help with social distancing guidelines. If this changes I will let you know as soon as possible, as this is also one of my favorite things we do at our meets!
  3. The top 6 finalists in every event will receive medals this includes Duet and OID groups.
  4. We will follow NSAA Guidelines for all events and sweepstakes tabulation.
  5. Prelim rounds will include the Average Opponent Rank as a tie-breaker to determine finalists in each event.
  6. In an effort to give our students more experience, Aquinas competitors will be allowed to break into finals, as individuals. They will not be in the running for a team sweeps trophy.

Our goal is to have a tough but friendly competition, that takes a little bit of pressure of the season and offers feedback that you can use going forward.

We will do all that we can to help every competitor to do their best.

Registration will begin at 7:15a.m. on the 20th. There will be a general meeting at 8:15a.m.

I love being done on time or early, so if we can tighten this schedule at all every effort will be made!
