Hello all,

 

The East Grand Forks Speech Staff is excited to invite your team to the Green Wave Open on Friday, February 15th at East Grand Forks Senior High. We enjoyed hosting on a Friday last season, so we are going with that again this year. The competition is for students grades 7-12, in all 13 MSHSL categories. Cost is $7.00 per entry with duo considered one entry. Make checks payable to Independent School District 595. Please bring 1 judge for every 6 entries (7 entries = 2 judges). Extra judges are provided by EGF for a fee of $85.00, but we have a limited supply, so please try to fill your judge requirement.

 

We are doing a few things differently this year. The most exciting one is that we are allowing triple entries. Rounds will be flighted an hour and a half apart from each other, but we will ensure that all students will be heard. We will allow students in discussion to enter in a draw event, but please do not enter an individual student in two draw events. We will have awards for the top 6 individual sweepstakes students (minimum 2 events), so there is extra incentive for students to try a third event. The pacing of the tournament will be relaxed for those students in only one event. There should be lots of time in between rounds for eating and breaks.

 

The tournament will consist of 3 rounds and a final. Medals will be given to the finalists with superior ribbons going to all students with the next two melds that missed finals. Trophies will be awarded to the top 3 teams. Concessions will be available for purchase for students, and food will be freely provided for all coaches, judges, and drivers in the judges’ lounge. Please register students by 4PM Friday, February 7. 

 

If possible, please use the "My team will attend" function as early as possible, so we have general idea of the tournament size. Drops will be accepted until 4PM on Wednesday, February 12th.
