Hi folks,

We are so grateful that you made the Andover Speech tournament the choice for your team next Saturday, January 23. Unfortunately, as of this morning, the number of registered competitors is very low. There were several categories with fewer than six entrants, and we felt these numbers would not provide your students with the same level of engaging and energizing competition we’ve had at past Andover tournaments. After careful consideration this morning, we’ve made the difficult decision to cancel our tournament next weekend.

Our hope is that our cancellation will strengthen the numbers for other tournaments this weekend creating a great experience for speech students.  We have reached out to tournament managers for two other online tournaments next weekend, and are both happy to host as many students as our teams would like to bring to their tournaments. The tournaments are slightly more expensive than ours per entrant, but our hope is that without transportation costs, these tournaments will still be within your budget:

• Chanhassen Speech Tournament ($7/entry; $25 team fee)

• The Odyssey: Your Speech Journey Begins Here (Orono/Mound/Westonka $8/entry; $25 team fee)

Both tournaments have a preliminary registration deadline of Monday, January 18, with no drop/add fees until Wednesday. 

We thank you for your flexibility.  This is a challenging school year, and we all want to do what is best for the students. We look forward to seeing you at other online tournaments this year, and we especially look forward to seeing you next year, in person, at our Andover tournament.
