SpeechWire Tournament Services - Forensics Tournament Software

Thank you for choosing the Forest Lake Speech Tournament - the R.C. Streater Classic! We are happy that you and your team have decided to attend. Our tournament will be offering competition in all 13 MSHSL events and Programmed Oral Interpretation (POI). Double entries will be allowed in all events; Discussion rounds will have a late start to accomodate students who wish to double enter in this event. OUR 2021 TOURNAMENT WILL BE VIRTUAL - USING THE NSDA CAMPUS PLATFORM. All categories, EXCEPT DUO, will be synchronous. Duo should be recorded using a platform like Zoom or Google Meet with the link submitted to Speechwire. Special arrangements may be made for students without consistent internet access.

Drop Deadline: Saturday, Feb. 20th at 7:00 a.m. (Drop fees will go into affect on this date.)

Site Scheduling: Please note that we will be scheduling this tournament by 8:00 a.m. on Saturday morning. Please make every effort to update your entries by noon on Friday; however, the drop window will be left open until Saturday morning, so coaches can make last minute drops the morning of the tournament. We will be posting schematics and rounds live online. Also included below is a link to our LIVE LINK DOCUMENT where you will find all of the information you need for a successful day!

E-balloting: Due to the virtual nature of the tournament we will be using e-balloting exclusively. Please make sure that your judges email information is entered into the Speechwire system and ask that your judges have an internet accessible device.

Entry Fee: $7.00 per entry. Double entries will be allowed in all events. Each team will be responsible for registering one judge per every six entries or fraction thereof.

Draw Event Information: Extemp. Reading will be using prose selections from All the Light We Cannot See all selection areas (Chapters 0,4, 6, 8, 10, and 13) and poems 1 - 39 (ALL). Storytelling will be using stories 1 - 15 (ALL). In all draw events students will not be able to perform a selection from previous rounds.

Discussion Information: We will be using the Sub-section topics of the Discussion outline (Global Wellness Through A Domestic Lens).

Awards will be given to the top 14 students in each category - 7 in the final round and 7 in the honor final round. Team awards will be given to both limited entry teams (small teams) and unlimited entry teams (large teams). Because of the virtual nature of this year's tournament, winning teams will have a check sent to them to honor a charity of their choice.
