Hi everyone!

 

The Wausa Viking Speech Team and Wausa Public Schools are proud to host the 2021 Wausa Viking Invite. The meet, which is returning to our new facility in Wausa, is on Saturday, February 13, 2021. This year's meet will be hosted in person with health and safety measures in place.  Registration will begin at 7:15 am and rounds will begin at 8:00 am.

 

We are using the SpeechWire services to schedule and run the meet this year.  Please log on to SpeechWire at www.speechwire.com to confirm that you will be attending the meet. Please confirm if you are attending ASAP. This will help us in organizing and scheduling the meet in an efficient manner. I ask that you have your entries in by Friday, February 5, 2021. 

 

Separate divisions will be held for the varsity and JV divisions. As always, if the need should arise, we reserve the option to limit entries.  Should there be too many entries in any one event, it will be addressed on an event-by-event basis.  You will be contacted directly by me should this need arise.  Triple entries will be accepted, but extemp. speakers may only double enter.

 

Awards will be given as follows:

Medals for all varsity events places 1 through 6

Medals for all JV events places 1 through 3 and certificates for places 4 through 6.

There will be a Sweepstakes plaques for first and second place in both the varsity and JV divisions.

 

Entry fees will be $7 per individual and group entry.  Please provide 1 judge for every 7 entries or portion thereof.  Each uncovered entry will be charged $8.  There will be NO refunds for drops and NO refunds for judges if the number of judges required changes as well.  Please provide your judges with a stopwatch.  All judges will be on call for finals.

 

COVID-19 HEALTH AND SAFETY MODIFICATIONS:

 

1. The gym will serve as the main homeroom for teams. Teams will be provided designated areas. We may employ additional homerooms to assist with physical distancing.

2. Only competitors, judges, and coaches will be allowed to attend the meet. All other spectators will not be allowed. Spectators in rounds will also be limited. 

3. Electronic ballots will be used this year. More information will be provided at a later date.

4. Masks will be required for all coaches, judges, and competitors. The competitors may have the option to remove masks while performing. 

5. Concessions will be modified to fit protocol for health and safety. More information will be provided at a later date. 

6. We will have a virtual awards ceremony. Medals and awards packets will be provided for each team. 

 

Modifications may be added or changed as needed. More information will be provided as we get closer to the meet.

8:00  Round 1 - Flight A (OID, Humorous Prose, Informative, Poetry)

8:15  Extemp Draw in the Elementary Multipurpose Room

9:15  Round 1 - Flight B (Duet Acting, Serious Prose, Extemporaneous, Persuasive, Entertainment)

10:30  Round 2 - Flight A

10:45  Extemp Draw in Elementary Multipurpose Room

11:45  Round 2 - Flight B

12:45  Extemp Draw for Finals

1:00  Finals for Fight A

1:30  Finals for Flight B

1:45  Extemp Finals

3:30  Awards (sooner, if possible)
