Dear Area Speech Coaches,

 

Wynot Public Schools will host an in-person speech meet on Saturday, February 6th, 2021, as long as DHM allows.

 

We will use SpeechWire services to schedule the meet.  You can log on to www.speechwire.com to confirm that you are attending and put in your entries.  Entries will be due by Wednesday, February 3rd at 4 p. m.  PLEASE CONFIRM ON SPEECHWIRE THAT YOU ARE ATTENDING AS SOON AS POSSIBLE.

 

We will limit this meet to 8 teams. Triple entries will be accepted.

 

Entry fees will be $7 per individual and group entry.  Please provide one judge for every 6 entries or portion thereof.  Uncovered judges will be charged $15 per judge needed.  There will be NO refund for drops and NO refund if the number of judges you require drops as well.  ALL JUDGES MUST BE AVAILABLE FOR FINALS.

 

The format of the meet will be two rounds for varsity with finals.  We will begin at 8 a. m. and hope to have awards around 3 p. m.  We will offer medals to the top six varsity entries in each event. There will be awards for runner up and champion teams.

 

The schedule for the meet is as follows:

 

7:00  Registration

8:00  Round 1, Flight A (Inform, Serious Prose, Poetry, OID)

8:15  Extemp draw begins

9:15  Round 1, Flight B (Extemp, Entertainment, Humorous Prose, Persuasive,

                    Duet)

10:30  Round 2, Flight A

10:45  Extemp draw for round 2

11:45  Round 2, Flight B

12:45  Extemp draw for finals

1:00  Flight A Finals

1:45  Extemp Finals

2:00 Flight B Finals (Sooner if possible)

3:00  Awards (Sooner if possible)

 

Awards will be held virtually and will be mailed to schools.  Concessions will be available. Sectioned areas will be provided for schools to eat and use as a home base for the day.

 

COVid Precautions and Reminders: 

 

Spectators

No spectators allowed; competitors, coaches, and judges only at the meet

No additional students may watch a competitor--judges, coaches, and competitors in that round in the room only

 

Masks

If you’re not performing, you need to wear a mask. Masks are optional for perfomances.

 

OID

One member of an OID in the room; others not allowed until it is their time to perform

Judges will allow for students to text/message others about expected performance time to avoid congestion in hallways or room, with the expectation that this not happen during a performance
