General Information: The Willmar Speech Team is so excited to invite you to the Cardinal open, our virtual NIETOC bid tournament Saturday, March 13. We’ll be in central Minnesota, but you are welcome to join us from anywhere! 

Important Dates: 

Registration Deadline: Monday, March 8th at 5PM

Tournament: Saturday, March 13 

 

Schedule 

Saturday, March 13 

9:00AM- Round 1

10:30AM-Round 2

12:00PM- Round 3

2:00PM- Finals

Awards ASAP!

Categories & Double Entering: 

  • All MSHSL events will be offered plus Impromptu speaking.

  • Students may double and triple enter. However, you may not double enter in draw categories (Draw students MAY double enter in Impromptu speaking.) 

Online Format:  All rounds will be live (except for Duo). This is subject to change pending guidance from the MSHSL on Duo.  Students will compete synchronously using NSDA Campus. 

Judging Requirements: Teams are expected to bring 1 judge for every 6 entries. Judging slots not covered will incur a $90 fee.

Entry Fees:

$8.00 per entry

 

*Fees have been increased by a few dollars to cover the cost of the virtual rooms.

NIETOC Bid Tournament: This tournament is officially a bid tournament site for the National Individual Event Tournament of Champions. Students competing in Drama, Duo, Extemp. Speaking, Humorous, Informative, Original Oratory, or Prose (counts as a Drama bid) have the ability to earn a bid that will get them one step closer to competing at the NIETOC Tournament in Houston, Texas from May 7-9, 2021. If there are enough entries in any of the NIETOC categories, we may offer a Merit and Consolation final to offer more bids. For more information visit their official website.

  • Extemp. Reading (Poetry): All sections

  • Storytelling: All stories

  • Discussion: Area II of Outline (Section Topics)
