Hi Northeast and Northwest Indiana Coaches!
I know it's late notice, but I would like to invite you to the Penn High School Speech Tournament on Saturday January 23rd. This will be my first time hosting a virtual tournament, but this will be a great opportunity to fill an opening in the calendar and to give our competitors some additional LIVE practice.
We will offer all IHSFA events and this tournament will be LIVE and synchronous through NSDA Campus. Entries will be due by 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday January 20th and judges will be due by 6:00 p.m. Thursday the 21st. Novice and Varsity divisions will be offered with a limit of four entries in each event.
There will be four rounds- 3 prelims and a final.
Unfortunately there will be no ribbons or trophies at this time, but there will be NO FEE for this tournament.
Event Specific Details-
Duo- IHSFA rules (scripted or memorized). Participants are not required to be in seperate rooms and this decision will be at the discretion of coaches, schoold districts, and local health officials.
Broadcasting- Students will prepare a 5 minute newscast and include a mustic intro/outro of their choosing and a 1 minute commercial advertising a product of their choosing. Students should also prepare a 2 minute editorial on the question " What current musician(s) will stand the test of time?".
Newscast will be used in Round 1 and 2. Editorial will be used in round 3. Final will combine the two for a 7 minute broadcast.
Discussion- Artifacts will be released on Monday January 18th. (No doubling in discussion).
Judges-
1 judge will be required for every 5 entries or fraction (6 entries= 2 judges).
Platform-
NSDA Campus
Again, sorry for the delay in getting out the invite, but it was a last minute decision on my part. I hope to see you all there! One positive to the virtual tournament is that hopefully we won't have to worry about weather again this year :)
