Mexico High School “War of the Words” Goes VIRTUAL Tournament
Dear Speech Coach and Team:
You are cordially invited to virtually attend the MHS Speech & Debate Tournament the week of Monday, November 30 to Saturday, December 5, 2020. This tournament is for 9th-12th grade. As a virtual tournament it is vital that all deadlines are met in a timely manner to ensure that the tournament proceeds smoothly. As such there will be no extensions or exceptions to the tournament deadlines. Please make sure you familiarize yourself with the schedule found in the documents section. All individual events will be judged asynchronously via pre recorded video submissions using Loom. Debate will be judged live via Zoom on Saturday December 5, 2020.
Each school is allowed 5 entries in each individual event and 3 entries in each debate event.
There will be NO division between varsity and novice.
Events include; Prose, Poetry, Humorous, Dramatic, Story, Info, POI, Oratory, Extemp (combined), Duo (filmed split screen per MSHSAA guidelines) Radio, Lincoln-Douglas Debate, Policy Debate and Public Forum Debate.
Dramatic, Humorous, Info, POI, Duo, Oratory, Extemp will follow the current NSDA guidelines. Prose, Poetry, Story, Radio and Debate will follow the current MSHSAA guidelines.
Students may double enter in IEs AND may also enter one debate event.
Students may NOT triple-enter in IEs.
All entries are due NO LATER than 4:00PM Monday, November 23 This is the Monday before Thanksgiving Break so please plan accordingly.
The deadline for changes will be Monday, November 30 by 10:00 AM. After this time, no additions may be requested and drops will be
charged the original entry fee.
Entry fees are $10 per event.
Please mail payment upon receipt of invoice to Mexico High School 639 North Wade Mexico MO 65265.
Each school is required to provide 1 adult judge per 5 Individual Event Entries and 1 adult judge per 3 debate entries.
To ensure the tournament runs on time and smoothly, any VARSITY student who has acquired more than 750 NSDA points OR has qualified to NSDA Nationals may judge if not competing.
