Dear Forensic Colleagues:

The Marian Catholic High School Speech and Theatre Department is honored to invite you to the tenth annual "Marian Classic" Invitational to be held on Saturday, November 14, 2020 in the comfort of your own homes!!! :)

The tournament will consist of three preliminary rounds and a final round. Both preliminary rounds and final rounds will be ASYNCHRONOUS. We look forward to having you be a part of this tournament. There will be no cap on entries due to the nature of how the tournament will be run. However, you will need to provide the proper amount of judges in order to cover all the entries so please keep this in mind. There will be more information in the coming weeks regarding the setup of the tournament and when to submit links, etc. If you should have any questions, feel free to call or text Laura Hilger at 708-522-7714 or lhilger@marianchs.com.

The Marian Classic will follow I.H.S.A. rules for all individual events with the following exceptions:

Team scoring: Preliminary round scoring will determine team placements. The top two scoring contestants in each event will count toward your total team point tabulation. Due to the current situation, duets are invited to compete for individual awards but will not be counted in the team tallies. Furthermore, any student competing in a duet is invited to be triple entered. Triple entries will only be allowed if a student is competing in DDA or HDA. The awards ceremony is TBD. We are hoping to do a live awards show on Zoom or YouTube Live.

29-42 entries $200.00

43+ entries $250.00

JUDGES:

1 judge per 6 entries

1 – 6 Entries: 1 judge

7 – 12 Entries: 2 judges

13 – 18 Entries: 3 judges

19 – 24 Entries: 4 judges

25 – 30 Entries: 5 judges

31 – 36 Entries: 6 judges

37 – 42 Entries: 7 judges

43 – 48 Entries: 8 judges

If it is beyond these entries, please pay close attention to the number of judges needed to support your number of entries.

**IMPORTANT** Please make sure that your hired judges are at least 2 years out of high school. Individuals who are 1 year out of high school will not be allowed to judge.

*Each team is responsible for the number of judges based on the original entry number. Teams with missing judges will be assessed $50 per judge. This fee will need to be paid before your team will be allowed to compete. Contestant drops on tournament day will not decrease your number of required judging assignments.

VIDEO SUBMISSION:

-Please remind students to refrain from introducing themselves ("Hi, I'm Laura Hilger from Marian and I'm performing my DI") Simply starting their performance is great.

-Title the video "[Student Name] - [event]" Ex. Laura Hilger - DI

SCHEDULE:

Video submissions are due on Speechwire by Thursday @ 10:00 PM.

Judging assignments will go out Friday @ 6:00 PM. Judges will have until 12:00 noon on Saturday to judge, rank, and submit an electronic critique.
