Glenbrook North Tournament of Heroes
General information This information is from a tournament in a past season! This is a High School tournament in Illinois. View manager contact information Dear Speech Coach, Welcome to the Glenbrook North Tournament of Heroes: "With great power comes great speakers!" We are looking forward to hosting you virtually for the 2021 Tournament of Heroes! We will run a tournament with ASYNCHRONOUS preliminary rounds and LIVE final rounds on Saturday, January 30th, 2021. All 14 IHSA events will be featured, and we hope to mirror the format of IHSA state series. Please keep in mind that the exact format of the tournament is subject to change based on information released by the IHSA in the coming weeks. We will make sure to keep you informed! ENTRY FEE: The base fee (up to 28 entries) will be $150. If you add a 3rd entry in any event (28+ entries), the fee is $250 (please add $100 to the base fee). JUDGES: Please bring one (1) judge for each six (6) entries. Schools that are granted extra entries will need to bring additional judges.
SCHEDULE:
Tues 1/26: Radio Packet released; Impromptu-Extemp Topics drawn (see note below for limited prep events) Wed 1/27: All prelim video submissions due by 9 PM (Please check ALL VIDEOS!!!) Thur 1/28: Judging Assignments Released by 8 AM Fri 1/29: Ballots will be due by 9 PM (If a judge has not begun rounds by 6 PM, we will begin reaching out to schools. If judging assignments cannot be replaced and covered, there may be a judge penalty assigned, depending on the situation.) Sat 1/30: Postings by 9 AM (tentative) LIVE Final Rounds at 11 AM (Prep @ 10:15-RS and 10:30-ES) AWARDS via Live YouTube around 1:30 PM
LIMITED PREP EXPECTATIONS:
RADIO: Prelim packet will be released Tuesday evening. There will be LIVE preps for the final round on Saturday.
EXT and IMP: Currently, the IHSA is in the process of determining the prep technology and rules at this time. We will try to mirror IHSA procedures. We are currently preparing for the likelihood of "drawing" prep topics on Tuesday evening and will update with details as soon as more information is available.
DUETS: Duet prelims will be prerecorded videos. Duets must not record on different screens and cannot be in the same room. Duets can use 1 table and 2 chairs between the two screens. No edits should be made to the recorded except putting the two videos together. We will attempt to replicate IHSA procedures for duet procedures. Tentatively, we are planning for asynchronous duet finals until more information is released by the IHSA, which may result in a change to live final rounds for duet events. We will keep you posted!
AWARDS: We will be hosting awards on Live YouTube to recognize all finalists. Charitable donations will be made in the name of the top five (5) teams in lieu of team trophies.
