Happy 2021!

The Milton High School Forensics Team invites your team to "join us" for our 9th annual Friday Night Lights Tournament 100% VIRTUALLY! This tournament will be run ASYNCHRONOUSLY. We will release the limited preparation materials on Friday, Feb 19th, one week BEFORE our tournament is scheduled to be completed. ALL videos must be uploaded by 7PM on Sunday, Feb 21st. On Monday, Feb 22nd, the tournament host (Shauna Wessely) will release the preliminary rounds to the judges. Judges will have 3 days to judge prelims. After that, Shauna will tabulate the results on Wednesday night at 9PM. She will then release the Power Round videos to judges. Judges will have until 5PM on Friday, Feb 26th to submit their feedback. Shauna will release an Awards Video link. Any questions regarding this tournament should be addressed to Shauna Wessely at wesselys@milton.k12.wi.us or 608-868-9300 ext. 1132.  Thanks for considering participation in our tournament!

We will run the tournament using WHSFA scoring rubrics.  However, as we encourage participation from all schools, regardless of organization affiliation, all rulings will be made to the benefit of the student.  As such, we accept a 2nd person in Demo speaking or not, notes/notecard/reader’s stand in categories which state the use of such is appropriate, electronic devices for Extemp, and the use of chairs/stools in Solo Acting, Group Interp, and Playacting.  Events:  My intention is to run Public Address and all other WHSFA events (no DUO or OIL).  However, should less than 3 students be registered in any 1 event by the deadline, I will eliminate it and contact any coaches with students in said event so students can be registered for a different event.

Entries:  4 entries per category (unless JV).  We do NOT allow double or triple entries.  JV entries are welcome, but only the top 25 entries will earn points toward the team award.  Individual trophies will be given to the top three students in each category with medals for finalists.  There will be team trophies for the Top 2 large schools and the Top 2 small schools.  Remember, that you must register a judge for every 5 entries.  I may have a limited number of judges for hire at a cost of $100/judge.  You must notify me 2 weeks before the tournament should you need one.

Registration:  You must register for the tournament on SpeechWire.  Let me know if you have any technical difficulties (wesselys@milton.k12.wi.us).  Please have all your entries on SpeechWire by Fri., Feb. 19th at 3PM. (Edits to the video submissions through through 7PM on Fri Feb 21st are accepted.)  Whatever your judge total is on the 19th at 3PM based on your entries, is what you will be responsible for providing to the tournament. Come February 21st, you will NOT be allowed to make any edits.
