The 3rd Annual Chanhassen Snowvitational Speech Tournament - virtual edition

 

December 19th and 20th, 2020 - ONLINE

REGISTRATION DEADLINE:  Tuesday, December 1st, 2020

 

 

 

The Chanhassen Speech Team invites your team to the third edition of the Chanhassen Snowvitation. We are excited to offer a tournament rich with awesome experiences for students and judges. We promise to make the weekend enjoyable for all, but we cannot promise snow (although it is likely if you are in Minnesota). We will offer 4 preliminary rounds (single-flighted) with two judges in each preliminary round, so students will get a great amount of feedback from high-quality judges. On Sunday, we will have quarterfinals, semifinals, and finals where we will offer our snow globe trophies. We understand that this tournament falls outside the normal Minnesota speech season. It is really intended for Varsity speech members who are prepared for competition before January. This tournament has a NIETOC bid opportunity too! 

 

 

REGISTRATION:

The registration deadline is Tuesday, December 1st, 2020.  Changes can be made to a team's entry without cost until that date.  After this date, final invoices are printed.  Drops are allowed but NOT refunded and adds are no longer allowed (unless pre-approved by the tournament host). 

 

 

FORMAT:

4 Prelim Rounds (all on Saturday)

Quarter-Finals, Semi-Finals, Finals (on Sunday) 

 

 

SCHEDULE:

Rounds begin Saturday at 9:30 AM

Outrounds will happen on Sunday, beginning at 9:00 AM

All judges will be expected to return on Sunday to judge quarterfinals - even if all students drop from the tournament. 

I am still working on details for the awards ceremony, but I am hoping to offer something virtual.

FEES:

$20 per entry, $40 per duo, no entry limits

 

 

JUDGES:

Each team is asked to bring 1 judge for every 3 entries. We know this is a lot, but that is our best opportunity to provide a ton of feedback. We encourage you to check with alumni...many are home from college and willing to provide cheap labor. 

Each uncovered judge will cost the team $100. If judges fail to show up to a round, teams will be charged $50 for each missed round. 

 

 

DOUBLE-ENTERING

Double-entering is allowed in all events.  Triple-entering is not recommended but could be done if none of the entries are in extemp. speaking.

NSDA Events and Rules: Drama, Duo, Humor, POI, Info, OO, & Extemp Speaking 

We WILL NOT be offering all 13 Minnesota categories.
