Mustang Invitational

View manager contact information Dear Colleague: The Speech and Debate teams of the University of the Pacific and San Joaquin Delta College are pleased to invite you and your forensics squad to attend the Pacific Meets the Delta invitational forensics tournaments. The swing tournaments will be held online comprised of the Mustang Invitational Individual Events Tournament (Asynchronous Nov. 2-8, 2020), the Pat Kennedy Parliamentary Debate Round Robin (Synchronous Nov. 6, 2020) and Paul Winters Invitational Full-Service tournament (Synchronous Nov.6-8, 2020). San Joaquin Delta College’s Mustang Invitational will feature two preliminary rounds of competition in Novice and Open divisions of all eleven AFA/Phi Rho Pi individual events. The tournament will operate asynchronously with preliminary rounds judged during the week (Mon.-Fri.) and elimination rounds being judged over the weekend (Fri.-Sun.). Events with seven or more competitors will advance to a final round. All entries must be submitted with a link to the video no later than Monday, Nov. 2, 2020 by 5:00 PM PST. On Friday, November 6, 2020, the University of the Pacific will also host the Pat Kennedy Round Robin Tournament, a modified Round Robin. Applications are due to Steven Farias (sfarias@pacific.edu) no later than October 23, 2020 by 8:00 PM PST. We will accept up to 12 teams and will alert teams ASAP about acceptance of their bid. A separate invite will be circulated for the Round Robin. The University of the Pacific’s Paul Winters Invitational is a full-service tournament featuring NPDA Debate, NFA LD Debate, and Individual events. NFA LD Debate runs on Friday evening through Sunday. NPDA Debate runs Saturday and Sunday and conflicts with IEs which will run concurrently with debate rounds on Sunday. Two preliminary rounds of competition in Novice and Open divisions of all eleven AFA/Phi Rho Pi individual events will be offered, advancing to semifinals (as appropriate) or finals in each event. Five preliminary rounds of Novice and Open divisions of NPDA Parliamentary and NFA LD debate will advance to appropriate elimination rounds. If students wish to compete in both debate and IEs at the swing, we advise them to participate in the asynchronous tournament. All entries for the Paul Winters are due Wednesday, Nov. 4, 2020 by 8 PM PST. Entries will be taken electronically at speechwire.com. Changes and drops can be made but additions and/or replacements must occur on a case by case basis.
