Events: All OSDA High School/Middle School Speech Events. Debate: High School PF, L/D, Congress and Middle School Congress
Fees:$5.00 per competitor ($10.00 for a duo or a public forum team). MAKE CHECKS PAYABLE TO: South Range Speech and Debate
Deadline: Wednesday December 2, 2020 AT 8:00 P.M.
YOU MAY REGISTER USING SPEECHWIRE.
*PF judges may judge HS or MS
*Speech judges may judge HS or MS
Judges: 1 judge for every 6 I.E. competitors
1 Judge for every 6 Congress entries
2 Judges if over 6 Congress entries.
1 judge for 1 or 2 L/D Debaters
2 judges for 3 or 4 L/D Debaters
3 judges for 5 or 6 L/D Debaters
THIS SAME RATIO APPLIES TO PUBLIC FORUM TEAMS AS WELL.
In I.E., a judge who just graduated from high school last year may NOT
judge the event in which he/she competed. A parent or other close family
relative should NOT judge the event in which the current competitor
competes (not applicable in L/D or Public Forum Debate)
PLEASE MAKE SURE TO MARK JUDGES OFF OF EVENTS WHEN REGISTERING ON SPEECHWIRE!
Do NOT drop judges even though you may be forced to drop contestants.
A dropped judge on the day of the tournament will cost you $30.00.
A $30 fine will be assessed for each judge a school is short. FEES WILL BE ENFORCED THIS YEAR
Rounds: There will be 3 rounds in all I.E. events and 2 sessions of Congress. Precedence and Recency will reset. There will be 4 rounds in L/D Debate and 4 rounds in Public Forum Debate
CONGRESS LEGISLATION:
HS: Follow Dec. docket for Dec. 5th and D8, D11, D4, M20-10 will be used for finals.
MS: Two Rounds for sure. Third if possible. MS20-4, MS20-5, MS20-6, MS20-9, MS20-10, MS20-13
Extemp: Topics from the past 90 days of the standard news magazines will be used. Round 1 and 2 draw and Rd 3 will be pick your best speech with a 15 minute prep.
Awards: The top 6 in each category will receive an award. Certificates will be emailed to each head coach that can be edited for each student.
In I.E., a 1 = 3 pts.; a 2 = 2 pts.; a 3 = 1 pt.
In L/D and P/F, a win = 2.25 pts. (0 pts. for a loss)
In Congress, a 6 = 3pts. a 5=2pts., a 4=1pt.
Saturday registration will begin at 8 and end at 8:30. Rds will hopefully start at 8:45.
