The virtual Speech & Debate world invites you to the 3rd virtual SFCFL tournament on Saturday, December 12, 2020.   Remember, you must be a paid member of SFCFL to attend this tournament. Membership information and applications may be found at sfcfl.org Additionally, any student who wishes to compete at the Grand Final Tournament in March must attend one complete SFCFL tournament. For official rules, please visit www.sfcfl.org

ENTRY LIMIT: 10 entries in each category. DOUBLE ENTRY IS ALLOWED IN SPEECH EVENTS.

STUDENT ENTRY FEE:   $10.00 per student payable to SFCFL.

JUDGE REQUIREMENTS:      1 judge for every 5 IE (including Congress), and 1 judge for every 2 debaters or fraction thereof, but you cannot mix PFD, WD or LD judges. Please make certain you have the correct number of debate judge.

REGISTRATION DEADLINE:    Enter online at   www.speechwire.comEntries will be accepted through Wednesday December 9, 2020.  Changes and drops may be made until Thursday at 10:00 a.m., but you will be charged the entry fee for any student originally entered.  The web site will be closed Wednesday night.

TOURNAMENT SCHEDULE:  Registration will be online and require just a verification of entry. We will offer 5 rounds of competition in all events and 3 sessions of Congressional Debate and 4 rounds of World Schools Debate.

All judges must be register via Speechwire account by the deadline Wednesday December 9, 2020.

2020 November/December Topic: Resolved: The United States ought to provide a federal jobs guarantee.

PUBLIC FORUM DEBATE (Varsity/Novice)

2020 November/December Topic: Resolved: The United States should adopt a declaratory nuclear policy of no first use.

EXTEMP TOPIC AREAS: US Federalism (Congress and the States), Global Climate Issues, Global Human Rights Issues, Europe, Covid-19

WORLD SCHOOLS MOTIONS:

This House would criminalize violations of local health ordinances (ex. include but are not limited to social distancing, mask mandates, etc.)

This House would establish term limits for US Supreme Court justices.

This House supports statehood for Puerto Rico.

This House supports the use of military intervention in response to the Uyghur Muslim humanitarian crisis.
