This is the official invitation to the 2020 Mentor Speech and Debate Tournament.
When: Saturday, November 21, 2020
Where: Everywhere
Registration Deadline: Thursday, November 19, 2020 at 10pm
Cost $5 per student for Saturday only, $6 for students who compete on Friday & Saturday
Checks should be made out to Cleveland District-OSDA with the words Mentor Tournament on the memo line. Send checks to Carrie Cofer, District Chair at 4470 Angela Drive in Fairview Park, Ohio 44126.
General Info: All events: IE, Policy, LD, PF, Big Qs and Congressional Debate. Plus the OSDA Middle School events. Plus, two divisions available in HS PF, LD, and Policy. The FRIDAY division is for students who want to compete on Friday and Saturday. The VARSITY division is for students who only want to compete on Saturday. You can bring as many students as you want, but you must bring judges who are available for the whole time your students are competing to meet your requirements.
Judge requirements:
Policy - 1 Judge per 1 or 2 entries
Lincoln/Douglas - 1 Judge per 1 or 2 entries
Big Questions - 1 Judge per 1 or 2 entries
Public Forum - 1 Judge per 1 or 2 entries
Individual Events - 1 Judge for up to 5 entries
(2 for 6-10, 3 for 11 - 15, etc.)
Congress – 1 Judge per school entering the event
Please register judges by Thursday, November 19 at 10 PM.
Check in: Check in will be from 8:00am to 8:30am. Please be prompt, we would like to begin Round I promptly at 9:00am. Extemp draw is scheduled for 8:31am.
Debate Topics – We will use the November resolutions.
Congress will use the state docket for Nov 21.
Middle School Congress will use items 1, 3, 5, 6, 12 on the OSDA Middle School docket.
Novice Policy Debate will run if we have enough entries to make it viable.
Awards will hopefully be at 3:30 PM on Saturday. Pins will be mailed for kids who finish in the top 6 spots.
