IMPORTANT REMINDERS:

(1) Every student competing at this tournament MUST have a Speechwire account.  Please sign up your student competitors under the Student tab on this web page https://www.speechwire.com/c-login.php.

(2) Please bring one varsity student judge for every five entries in speech and debate. As always, students will judge every round. If a school does not bring enough judges to cover their entries, any entries about the number covered will be dropped.  This is an unfortunate new reality in the world of online competition and a major reason why we need your help to make this work smoothly for everyone!

(3) You will need to add an e-mail address for every student judge that you enter into the judge list.

(4) Speech events will be held Asynchronously - not live!  That mean every student entered in a Speech event must also submit a working and SHAREABLE link to a video of their performance!  That link should be entered in the Video Links Tab for each student.  It is each Coach's responsibility to ensure the video links work.  Students with links that do not work will be ranked last in their rounds.

EVENTS:

Debate: Lincoln-Douglas, Public Forum, and Policy Debate (Live events)

Platform: Original Oratory and Informative (pre-recoded video submissions), Combined Extemp (Live event)

Interp: Humor, Drama, Poetry, Duo, POI (pre-recoded video submissions).

ENTRY LIMITS: As is the tradition, we will accept up to five (5) entires in each event.

COST: $6 per student, $10 per team event based on preregistration on October 14th. Make checks payable to Regis Jesuit High School with a note "For Speech & Debate"

REGISTRATION: Please try to register by October 14th. Fees are set on that date.  This is also the deadline for submitting links to student competition videos.

AWARDS:  We will have an awards ceremony at the end of the competition, but will not be presenting any physical awards this year.

JUDGES: Please bring one varsity student judge for each five entries. We will use all student judges every round and will offer a training session on electronic ballots prior to the tournament.  Please explain to students that the more events they're willing to judge, the better the chance that we'll get to use them every round.

DEBATE TOPICS:

PF will use the September/October NSDA topic - Resolved: The United States federal government should enact the Medicare-For-All Act of 2019.

LD will use the September/October NDSA topic - Resolved: In a democracy, voting ought to be compulsory.

Policy Debate wil use the 2020-21 NSDA topic - Resolved: The United States federal government should enact substantial criminal justice reform in the United States in one or more of the following: forensic science, policing, sentencing.
