*NEW: A Link to the CHSAA Online Competition Rules is attached under the "Files for Download" tab.*

IMPORTANT REMINDERS:
(1) Every student competing at this tournament Must have a Google e-mail account.  School addresses for schools that use Google for their student e-mails will work as will personal g-mail accounts.  Without a g-mail account, students cannot compete in live events.
(2) Every student competing at this tournament will need a Speechwire account.  Please sign up your student competitors under the Student tab on this web page https://www.speechwire.com/c-login.php.
(3) Please bring one varsity student judge for every five entries in speech and debate! We will use student judges every round.  If a school does not bring enough judges to cover their entries, any entries about the number covered will be dropped.  This is an unfortunate necessity for online competition. We need your help to make this work smoothly for everyone!
(3) You will need to add an e-mail address (must be a Google account) for every student judge that you enter into the judge list.
(4) Speech events will be held Asynchronously - not live!  That mean every student entered in a Speech event must also submit a working and SHAREABLE link to a video of their performance!  That link should be entered in the Video Links Tab for each student.  It is each Coach's responsibility to ensure the video links work.  Students with links that do not work will be ranked last in their rounds.
(5) As this is the first novice, all competitors should be in their FIRST year of high school forensics speech and debate, not simply trying a different event. Students should have ZERO NSDA points coming into this meet - I will disqualify any students violating this rule.  We need your varsity students to come and judge.

EVENTS:
Debate: Lincoln-Douglas, Public Forum (Live events)
Platform: Original Oratory/Informative (pre-recoded video submissions), Combined Extemp (Live event)
Interp: Humor, Drama, Poetry, Duo, POI (pre-recoded video submissions).

ENTRY LIMITS: Come one, come all... however, if you bring 19 OOers, there is a grand possibility that they will be competing against each other... as long as we have the judges, we don’t care how many come... .
COST: $4 per person, $8 per team event (because 2 people make up a team event) based on preregistration on October 1st. Make checks payable to LONGMONT SPEECH & DEBATE, c/o Jim Dornan.
REGISTRATION: Please try to register by October 1st. Fees are set on that date.

AWARDS:  We will have an awards ceremony at the end of the competition, but will not be presenting any physical awards this year.
Cell Phone: 303-720-1926 Email: Dornan_Jim@svvsd.org  (You're going to get hold of me a lot faster by email)

JUDGES: Please bring one varsity student judge for each five entries. We will use all student judges every round. PLEASE TEACH THEM HOW TO JUDGE, WRITE COMMENTS, RANK AND USE A BALLOT before they get to the tournament.  Please explain to students that the more events they're willing to judge, the better the chance that we'll get to use them every round...i.e. if your team has five varsity orators who tell us that's the only event they judge, and there's only 10 total OO entries at the meet, they're not likely to get to judge that round.

DEBATE TOPICS:
PF will use the September/October NSDA topic: Resolved: The United States federal government should enact the Medicare-For-All Act of 2019.
LD will use the September/October NDSA topic: Resolved: In a democracy, voting ought to be compulsory.

NOVICE STUDENT CLASSIFICATION: A novice competitor is in his/her first year of high school competition...not first year competing in the event, but first year at a high school tournament. This means that the competitor should have had 0 NSDA points as of October 5th. Any student who is not in their first year of competition will be disqualified. Please contact me if you have any other questions OR would request an exception.
