Dear coaches!

You are cordially invited to the Mile High Invitational being hosted virtually Friday and Saturday November 13^th and 14^th using Speechwire’s asynchronous IE competition and live debate! This tournament will offer 5 preliminary rounds of pre-recorded Individual Events  followed by quarterfinal breaks, with debate events competing in four synchronous preliminary rounds, breaking to Octofinals.  This is our 10 year anniversary of hosting the Mile High Invitational and what a unique celebration it will be as we look forward to welcoming students and coaches from all over the country to our virtual world of national caliber competition, during this unprecedented year, where speech and debate is as necessary as it has ever been. We want to thank all the coaches and participants whose patience, passion, and hard work ensures that we survive and thrive in this exciting and extraordinary new landscape.

NIETOC: We are proud to announce that we are a bid tournament to the National Individual Events Tournament of Champions (NIETOC). Bids can be earned in the following events: HI, DI, DUO, POI, OO, INF, and EXTEMP. Bids will be awarded based on registration numbers in each event. 

*All asynchronous videos will need to be uploaded and links submitted by November 10th @ 5:00pm MST*

Extemporaneous Speaking will be synchronous! Speakers will prep in rooms that correspond with their speaking order (more details on this will be forthcoming)

Rules and Resolutions: All rules and resolutions will align with NSDA for the month of November. 

Doubling: All competitors may enter up to three IEs. Debaters cant enter more than one synchronous event.  

**Postings: We will post electronically on Speechwire. text and e mail updates will be available via Speechwire.**

**Fees and Payment: We have lowered our fees! No team entry fee, and each entry is a flat 8 dollar cost per event in both speech and debate events!

Judging and registration: All teams will be expected to provide judges that cover ALL their entries! Your registration must be proportional to the judges provided. 1 speech judge covers 6 entries, 1 debate judge covers 2 entries. Failure to provide judges information by November 9^th to cover your entries will result in entries being dropped, to satisfy these ratios.  

Please make checks payable to “DEFT” IMPORTANT: Please send checks to 1600 City Park Esplanade 80206 Denver, CO ATTN: Noah Kaplan”. This will help keep checks from floating around and mystery money remaining in your account.

$10 drop feels will be assessed after November 9^th 5:00 pm MTN

Site: The tournament will have headquarters at East High School in Denver, Colorado. But contacting the tournament will be done using the tournament director’s number and e mail.

We are honored to host the Mile High Invitational. None of this would be possible without the tireless work of students, teachers, parents, and representatives from the DU campus. We are thrilled to have you in attendance at our tournament and look forward to seeing you in December.
