Marshall Speech Spectacular!

NEW!  ONE-DAY TOURNAMENT!

 

OUR 2021 TOURNAMENT WILL BE VIRTUAL - SYNCHRONOUS USING THE NSDA CAMPUS PLATFORM (ASYCHRONOUS DUO)

 

The Marshall Tiger Speech Team invites your team to the 21st Annual Marshall Speech Spectacular!  This year, the "Spectacular" is a ONE-day experience that offers your team competition opportunities for both Novice and Varsity competitors, 3 preliminary rounds, honor finals, and finals! We welcome all teams of all sizes and experience levels!  We'd love to have your team join us this season!
 
 
This year's VIRTUAL, SYNCHRONOUS tournament will be using the NSDA Campus platform.  DUOS WILL BE A-SYCHRONOUS AND WILL NEED TO SUBMIT A VIDEO LINK.
 
 
THANKS FOR REGISTERING YOUR TEAM BY SATURDAY, JANUARY 23 AT 3:00.  You can continue to make changes throughout the week.  Changes after Wednesday at noon will not be refunded.
 
 
 
FORMAT:
 
3 Prelim Rounds
Finals for Novices
Finals and Honor Finals for Varsity (Merit finals may be added as well if numbers warrant so NIETOC bids can be earned)
 
 
NOVICES
Novices are defined as speakers who are new to speech or new to their category or 9th grade and younger.​
 
 
FEES:
 
$7 per entry/$14 per duo, no entry limits

**We will be charging a $25 team fee to help cover the cost of tech needs associated with the tournament (NSDA Campus & Zoom Rooms)

 
 
JUDGES:
 
Each team is asked to bring 1 judge for every 6 entries.
Uncovered judges cost $90 each
 
 
 
DOUBLE-ENTERING
 
Double-entering AND Triple-entering is allowed in all events.   
 
 
MSHSL EVENTS:
Discussion - Point I of the outlilne.
Extemp. Reading Prose: Chapters in "Zero", "Four", "Six", "Eight"
Extemp. Reading Poems: Poems 1-20
Storytelling Stories: Stories 1-9
 
 
NIETOC
We are proud to be a NIETOC bid tournament again this year!
 
 
AWARDS
All award winners will received certificates.  In lieu of offering team and individual trophies, we will donate the money we would have spent on this to The Southwest Minnesota Arts Council.   SMAC is a non-profit organization committed to promoting and encouraging the development of the arts in Minnesota by serving as a source of funds and technical services which enable local organizations, educational institutions, and individuals to sponsor and/or create and promote the arts in their communities.  We are proud to support the arts!
