UPDATE: THE CDC FALL LD/PF/EXTEMP INVITATIONAL WILL BE ON SATURDAY, OCTOBER 10, ONLY.  NO COMPETITION ON FRIDAY EVENING.  REGISTRATION WILL BE FROM 8:30 TO 9:00 A.M. ON SATURDAY, FOLLOWED BY 4-5 ROUNDS OF COMPETITION.  A ZOOM LINK FOR REGISTRATION AND THE TOURNAMENT WILL BE SENT OUT TO ALL REGISTERED COACHES ON FRIDAY EVENING.  
 
Welcome to the 2020-2021 Speech and Debate season! On behalf of Classic Debate Camp, we are excited to invite you and your students to participate in a day of traditional Lincoln-Douglas debate and Public Forum debate. We are also excited to offer 4-5 rounds of competition in mixed Extemporaneous Speaking featuring rounds of both international and domestic topics for each competitor.  
 
To help students get used to online competition and maximize what they learn from our tournament, all judges will be encouraged to disclose their decisions and give oral critiques after each round.
 
Tournament topics will be the Sept/Oct 2020 NSDA designated topics: 
 
Lincoln Douglas - Resolved: In a democracy, voting ought to be compulsory.
Public Forum - Resolved: The United States federal government should enact the Medicare-For-All Act of 2019.
 
The CDC Fall LD/PF/Extemp Invitational Tournament will host competition using Zoom as our platform for synchronous competition. 
 
The tournament will kick-off on Saturday morning with student and judge registration between 8:30-9:00 a.m. EST. Round 1 is scheduled to begin promptly at 9:00 a.m. EST. Please refer to Speechwire for additional information about start times for the remaining rounds. Both LD and PF will run 4-5 rounds. Extemporaneous Speaking will run 2 IX rounds and 2 DX rounds, followed by a final round for the top 6 speakers, if time permits. Cross examination will run for all rounds of competition. 
 
Entries will be capped at 60 in LD and 60 in PF, so please register promptly. Teams will be initially limited to 6 entries in each debate event, but more entries may be accepted later if space permits. 
 
Competitors are expected to provide judges for BOTH days of the tournament. 1 judge for every 2 entries in debate events are necessary to efficiently run the tournament. Schools participating in Extemporaneous Speaking should provide 1 judge per 3 entries. We will have access to a limited number of judges for hire at the rate of $40 per day. Please communicate with tournament directors to request hired judges as soon as possible.   
 
Registration fees must be paid by credit card through the Classic Debate Camp website: https://www.classicdebatecamp.com/register. Payment for registration MUST be made by Wednesday, October 7. 
 
Entry fee: $3 per student (LD = $3 per debater; PF = $6 per team; Extemper = $3 per speaker).
